James Findlay and support from Geri Van Essen at Green Note, Monday 18th June - Doors Open 7:00pm, Live Music starts at 8:00pm
FolkOnMonday are very pleased to be welcoming the winner of the 2010 BBC Young Folk Awards James Findlay - a night absolutely not to be missed!
"James Findlay walked away with the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awardtitle on Friday 4th December 2009. Amongst a stunning group of finalists James' amazing voice and distinctive guitar and fiddle style stood out. He is influenced by all genres of music, but his love lies in traditional English folk music and ballads and in a short space of time he has developed a stage presence all of his own.
As well as the Young Folk Award James was a winner in the ‘New Roots’ national competition for up-and-coming folk performers in 2008. Judging the Young Folk Awards Bellowhead’s Jon Boden exclaimed, “Bloody hell, what a voice!' was my first thought as he launched into his two songs. He's warmly charismatic with that sparkle of personality that draws a crowd along with him.” (Paul Adams, 2011) 2011 saw James' debut album 'Sport and Play' released under the major folk label 'Fellside'."

"Instrumental music and songs from the Balkan and Mediterranean regions and beyond... From Klezmer to Sephardic, Rebetiko to Rai, they delight their audiences with a musical feast from East and West."
"one of the last remaining bluesmen who learned from the old masters, lived the music, survived the life and carries forward that valuable tradition. Within the blues world, MacLeod is known for his superb songwriting, guitar wizardry, warm soulful vocals, wit and unforgettable live performances. At the heart of this is his knack for storytelling, bringing characters—from the faceless to the legendary—to strikingly real life."
