9/11/19

We were happy to have First Responders in today during our lunches in honor of Patriot's Day. I can't believe 18 years have passed. None of our students have any idea of what pre-9/11 America was like. Few moments in American history have had such an immediate impact on our daily lives. As a group of teachers, we tried to think of an event that changed how America operates like that event did and could only come up with the bombing of Pearl Harbor and maybe Black Monday in terms of the impact on daily lives. Certainly, the assassinations of JFK, MLK, RFK, Apollo 11, the Challenger, and a number of other events have changed us, but few events change the way America operates. May God be with those nearly 3000 souls and may all First Responders be safe. Thank you to all of you who rush in while we rush out.

I spoke about Rachel's Challenge in previous Notes. I am happy to say that Rachel's Challenge will be with us on October 16 for the full day. While I am extremely excited for that event, I am disappointed that the voluntary PSAT falls on the same day. Rachel's Challenge is booked solid and the test is a national test day. Neither has the ability to change. We are going to run both on the same day. That means that the thirty students or so who sign up for the PSAT will miss a portion of the program. We will get the test takers back into the program as soon as possible.
