Judges 7:12 Now the Midianites and the Amalekites, all the people of the East, were lying in the valley as numerous as locusts; and their camels were without number as the sand by the seashore in multitude.
Judges 7:2,4,7 And the Lord said to Gideon, "The people who are with you are too many" . . . And the Lord said to Gideon, "The people are still too many" . . . Then the Lord said to Gideon, "By the three hundred men . . . I will save you . . ."
GIDEON vs MIDIAN: GOD'S BATTLE PLAN
Let's see, 300 against the sand by the seashore and the 300 were whittled down from many more. Just from a human standpoint I would not have been surprised if Gideon had looked sideways at God and asked, "Are you sure 300 is enough!" But this isn't all.
You will remember two other things about this battle. One, Gideon divided his army into three groups of a hundred and spaced them out around this vast camp. Then gave to each a trumpet, and concealed torches. When Gideon blew his trumpet the 300 likewise were to blow theirs, shout, and unveil the torches.
Here again, the plan of the Lord succeeded. The vast army became confused, fought with each other, ran around in the darkness and were routed. Israel won the battle.
We so often look at ourselves and say, "We are too few! We don't have enough." God often says, "Listen. You are too many. Besides I will give you the victory. Trust Me."
