The following suggestion applies to these receivers:

This bulletin does not apply to: X90, X900, X91+, X900+, iG3s, iG4, iG5.
The CHCNav factory batteries are approximately 70.1 mm (2.76”’) in length.
Some 2nd party batteries, typically purchased on Amazon, are long as 72.2 mm (2.84”) in length:
A battery is too long if you have to push the battery into the battery slot with high force in order to have the retaining clip secure the battery end.
If you force the battery into the head, it smashes the spring-loaded Po-Go pins that connect with the battery contacts, deforms the circuit board that they are attached to and eventually the head will not power up.
If, like us, you choose to occasionally use non-factory batteries; it may be possible to sand down the plastic ends to remove the molding ridges and reduce the battery length to match factory batteries. As batteries are dangerous, you should decide if this is an appropriate remedy for your battery selection choice.
In any case, please do not force batteries into the battery compartments of GNSS receivers if they do not fit!
In the past iGage has been extremely liberal when making warranty determinations while supporting customers with receivers damaged by too-long batteries. However, we are running out of replacement boards.
Please help us continue to provide great support by reducing our need for these spare parts which are currently very difficult to obtain.
We currently have lots of factory batteries in stock for $108 each plus shipping. Because it is very difficult to ship Lithium-Ion batteries, we have to send them via UPS Ground and we are unable to offer fixed price shipping to all destinations. Please call +1-801-412-0011 x12 to order.
Thank you very much for being carefull with batteries!
