Matthew 26:17–19 (NKJV) Now on the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?” And He said, “Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is at hand; I will keep the Passover at your house with My disciples.” ’ ” So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover.
My TIME Is at Hand: The TIME before Palm Sunday
It was the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread and it was time for every God-fearing Israelite to finish final preparations for the Feast of Unleavened Bread. They were to have already purged their homes of all yeast or leaven, which was a picture, a reminder of sin. They were to choose for themselves and their families a lamb, a Passover Lamb to be sacrificed and eaten in haste with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.

It was also time for Jesus. He had lived His life in perfect obedience to the Commandments of God. He had spoken the words given to Him by the Father. He had healed the sick and even raised the dead to the glory of God. It was time for Jesus to observe the Passover Meal a final time. He sent his disciples to carry out the task of purchasing and preparing the Passover Lamb and obtaining a place for the meal.

It was also the time that had been chosen in advance by our God. We can’t help but remember this when we hear that Jesus knew exactly what would happen that they should obtain a place to remember that great deliverance of God commemorated in the Passover Meal.

The time was at hand in which God would accomplish a far greater deliverance than that which the Passover Meal commemorated. The time was at hand for the Christ, the Chosen of God, to be offered for sins once and for all.

Jesus knew the time was at hand and didn’t shrink from the task, but met it head on. He did it in love for you and because He wants to lavish His love on you for time and eternity!
