Well here we are at the last month of 2016 and what a year it’s been. We have seen many changes in society, unfortunately many of them were not so pleasant, meanwhile, on a personal level we are starting to realize that only thing certain is the actual change that is occurring. Many folks are trying to figure out what is really happening, while others are totally clueless. In a nutshell, there is a great awakening that is taking place that is being reflected in society as a whole, our current beliefs are conflicting with much of the information that is being revealed. Fortunately, as we being the month of December the Sun continues to visit the philosophical and visionary sign of Sagittarius, helping us to question our existence and humanity’s future as a whole.
The sign of Sagittarius is most popularly known to represent freedom, exploration, and adventure. It’s a big picture way of living that is, in many ways, incurably optimistic. While the Sun transits Sagittarius we are offered an opportunity for growth and expansion in everything we do. However, on December 2nd our thoughts turn to serious contemplation when Mercury moves into Capricorn signaling an adjustment of our thinking process to one of getting down to business. Our minds begin to churn with ideas of how to make the world go around. And invariably, these ideas relate to finding the simplest, most practical way to do it.
Capricorn is an earth sign and its energy is rather heavy, so you may find it hard for some of those ideas to actually sift through into words. They will though, if you give it some time. After all, there are so many pieces of the puzzle to fit together. And no one is better at coordinating the production of a major puzzle than Capricorn. After spending time with the business and reality of Capricorn, Venus is on the move again toward more fun and freedom. Her move into Aquarius on December 7th brings a lighter and perhaps somewhat rebellious feeling. She knows exactly what she wants here, and it isn't anything stodgy! The tone for the time Venus spends in Aquarius is one of avant-garde beauty and the desire to bring fantastic new things into your life. This is a time when we can be independent and original without being abrasive about it.
This month’s Full Moon in Gemini on December 13th has to do with information, communication and knowledge. Mental Gemini is the journalist who gathers the facts and reports the data. Truth-seeking Sagittarius (opposing this full moon) is the philosopher who sorts through the facts in search of meaning. Where we have Sagittarius in our chart is where we need to challenge our old attitudes and theories. Where we have Gemini is where we can discover new sources of information. The Full Moon, at 22 degrees Gemini/Sagittarius, is close to the Galactic Center (27 degrees of Sagittarius). This formidable degree can motivate us to release old beliefs and karmic patterns so that we may connect with our life’s purpose.
Our motivation shifts to sensitivity on December 19th as Mars enters the watery realm of Pisces. Mars is a fiery, energetic planet whose energy represents action and aggression. Its move into the emotional, mutable sign of Pisces, which is known for compassion and empathy, is not exactly a walk in the park for the God of War. In Pisces, Mars can come across as being passive, but that is not what's going on inside. There are just different ways of being aggressive and strong. Mars in Pisces is not showy about it. He's quiet and just carries a big stick. When it comes time for compassion, there is no one with greater energy to spend fighting for the underdog than Mars in Pisces.
A few hours after Mars enters Pisces, Mercury retrogrades in Capricorn. The simplest, most practical way to make the world go around apparently needs a little more thought! You can expect to bump into a few walls when Mercury first turns retrograde in Capricorn, but give it a few days and you'll start to see the errors in your plan. This is a good time to test your models and figure out what needs to be revised. After all, if you're going to build a bridge, you need to make sure all the pillars will hold up the road way.
The Winter Solstice arrives on December 21st as the Sun enters Capricorn. As the Sun moves into the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn, we feel the calming energy of the earth and the need to take care of business. During this transit, we'll feel the urge to get started on practical, heavy duty projects and preparing for the future. This is a serious, no-frills kind of energy. A sense of being responsible and reliable fills the air. We become cautious and keenly aware of the need for safety and security. The sign of Capricorn relates to the process of managing things -- businesses, projects, and people. It's the director, putting all the pieces in the right places. The payoff is big if you do it right.
The desire for change and adventure dramatically increases on December 26th when Jupiter opposes Uranus. During this transit the need for personal freedom, excitement and breaking the rules is very high now. We will feel a strong urge to react, or rebel against anything that is stopping us from having fun and doing what we want. The expansive nature of Jupiter, the shocking nature of Uranus, and the antagonistic nature of the opposition mean that there is likely to be particular sudden event that releases built up tension and leads to a major change in circumstances. The more restricted we feel, then the more upsetting the change is likely to be.
There is a tendency to totally renew and start afresh. However, the more extreme the change then the harder it is for you and your loved ones to adjust to the new conditions. This is especially so if it is a close relationships that has been holding you down. Consider also, the financial ramifications of any big change. During this transit we can find adventure and personal growth through travel, education and new relationships while still maintaining certain core responsibilities in our lives. If we are consciously aware, we can find creative and ingenious ways to relieve the boredom without causing total chaos and disruption. Though technically a challenging transit, the relief from stress and tension can be very satisfying. A change in beliefs or social interaction may be all it takes to act as a circuit breaker. At the deeper level we are seeking a burst of higher awareness, to transcend our daily routine and bring on a spiritual growth purpose.
The last New Moon of the year will occur on December 28th and will highlight the useful and productive sign of Capricorn. This sign is known for its effort and hard work, while not expressing much feeling while doing so. Capricorns come across as competent people no matter how turbulent their emotions may be under the surface, they keep cool-headed and they come across as steady and reliable people. During this lunation we find a need for clear boundaries and realistic goals. Not much for taking risks in life, preparing and completing will be the name of game, Capricorn energy looks for safety and security in most everything it does.
This year we end on a high note as Uranus, the Great Awakener, goes direct in Aries on December 29th. Traditionally, Uranus represents the need to be free to express one’s own individuality, while Aries, as a fire sign, represents the urge to get out there and get things going. Uranus is known to produce unexpected, explosive events as well as those deep, “aha” moments we sometimes experience. The brilliance contained in those moments lead us to new heights of technological advancement as well as new levels of spiritual enlightenment. The entry of Uranus into Aries coincides with a rush of new energy aimed at throwing off the chains of oppression. When the explosiveness of Uranus meets up with the fire or Aries, we are no longer able to accept situations that are keeping us in bondage. We have to break free. What good is life if we cannot life it freely?
December 2016 will most likely be a month full of events, during which nature can become erratic, and incidents of a violent nature will take place. A month of plot twists turbulences and attempts at adjustments, radical decisions – some that will attract regret later on and changes of heart. Some of us will implement good changes in our lives, rather forced or because we’re good at using the confusion around us. Others will go through moments of crisis or will take on a large serving of stress. In conclusion, December 2016 is a complicated month, with complex aspects, during which it’s better to be very vigilant, not take any risks, keep cool, and not make impulsive decisions.
