As the flowers bloom and the days grow longer, we are getting in gear for a very exciting month of events. We have so much happening in and out of the shop, it is hard to know where to begin. May is Mental Health Awareness Month and we are bringing back the Knit or Crochet Everyday in May challenge to help you create a habit to improve your mental health while getting a chance to win a ReBelle gift certificate (see below.) Next up, we will be celebrating all things Mad Tosh at our monthly stitch-in with and prizes from Madeline Tosh. For those of you who love learning, we have some really great classes this month including the Toph Hat/Cowl (knit), Granny Square Workshop (crochet), and for those wanting to do something totally new- an Intro to Spindle Spinning class.

Finally, would it even be May if we didn't mention the Kentucky Sheep and Fiber Fest? We will be there with a booth set up in our normal spot so come by and say hi!!

New In The Shop

Introducing the new Zodiac Series from Emma's Yarn! They will be following the sun’s path through the cosmos throughout the next astrological year, releasing a Theme Pack and a Super Silky Trio for each of the twelve signs of the zodiac as they come up! We will have all 12 colorpacks and them packs as they come out, starting with Aries.

April 20th marks the beginning of the second month of the astrological year, “Taurus”. People born with the sun in Taurus are said to be down-to-earth, loyal, determined, and have an appreciation for the finer things in life . Emma's “Taurus” Theme Pack and Super Silky Trio appeal to Taurus’ earthy style and luxurious taste.

Looking for a project? We have a Ravelry Bundle full of ideas for using the Emma's Theme Packs. As for the colorpacks we think they would be wonderful in projects like the Gradient Lights Shawl by Laura Dobratz, the Triangulate Shawl by Carissa Browning, the Dreamstate Shawl by Lisa Mutch, or the Bunting Shawl by Hailey Bailey
Get ready for an Emma’s Yarn fiesta!!!! The May 2025 Crazy beautiful Color of the mounth is bringing the heat with this super fun, pink colorway featuring the most colorful specks of orange, blue, and of course - more shades of pink! While it is a party all on its own, we love it paired with more brights like Where'd That Man-go!?, Cactus Flower, and Trendy AF.

Last week we restocked a ton of favorites from Katrinkles and added some new items from her offerings. You might have seen the cowboy boot stitch markers that she created for the Nash Yarn Fest last month, lucky for us, she added them to her regular offerings so we snatched those up along with her new pickle stitch markers. For the shawl lovers, we added some of her faux leather shawl cuffs, something a little different than a basic shawl pin. Next up, because we can never say no to a hippo, we added some adorable hippo yarn munchers that will cut your yarn on-the-go. Finally, we added her pattern magnifiers to help see that small print or count those small stitches.

It is our favorite time of year- Knitted Wit National Parks Club season!!! Every month from May-August, Knitted Wit will release 4 new colorways inspired by National Parks areas, such as National Recreation Areas, Heritage sites, etc. This will be the final year for the National Parks Club so Knitted Wit is going to revisit their 16 most popular parks colors.

As usual, there is a Passport to track your parks purchases from us and other local yarn shops as you travel through the summer. At the end of the summer, there will be a commemorative patch for those with four filled squares and an enamel pin for those with all sixteen.

**May's yarns are running a little late this year, hitting the shop around the middle of the month due to mill supply issues, but we think they will be worth the wait. We will post the May Parks colors on our Facebook and Instagram as soon as they hit the shop.**

Events at ReBelle

For those needing a project for the warmer months, we are doing a Sweet Summer Top Knit/Crochet along for the month of May. As in past years, each person will pick their own pattern to make and we will all work on them together learning about different yarns and construction styles as we go. Robyn created a Ravelry bundle with several pattern ideas for both knit and crochet if you need some help finding the perfect pattern. We are also available in the shop if you need help finding a pattern for a particular yarn.

All ReBelle knit/crochet alongs are free and open to the public and you can attend as many or as few sessions as you like.

There's nothing quite like the combination of good company, delicious snacks, and the soothing rhythm of crafting to make your Sunday feel truly special.

Sunday, May 11, 1-4pm

May is Mental Health Awareness month so we are once again issuing a challenge for customers to knit or crochet everyday in May. As little as a couple of stitches or as much as a few hours, the goal is to create a habit that is good for your mental health. At the end of the month, submit your physical or digital tracker to us and we will be doing a drawing on June 6 for a $50 ReBelle gift card.

Trackers are available in the shop or if you want a digital version to keep on your phone or print yourself, you can download the pdf here.

Since its inception, the Kentucky Sheep and Fiber Festival has been our favorite thing about May. This year the fest will be May 17 & 18 at Masterson Station park. There will be over 50 vendors with everything from yarn and fiber to pottery to soaps and sundries. There are lots of great classes and workshops, demos, food, and for the spinners there is a skien contestThis is your chance to explore a wonderful selection of fibers and meet fellow enthusiasts who share your passion. ReBelle will have a booth in our usual spot so stop by and say hello. We can’t wait to see you there!

For more information you can visit the KSFF site or follow the Facebook page to keep current. We'll see you there!!

Featured Upcoming Classes

Toph Hat or Cowl

In this class you will choose between knitting the Toph Hat by Woolly Wormhead or the Toph Compagne Cowl by Tom Paterson. Both projects are a great way to really improve your knitting skills. Susan will teach you the crochet provisional cast-on, striping short rows and a mastery of the kitchener stitch for grafting an invisible finish. Both projects are knitted with dk weight yarn- we like Malabrigo Arroyo, Kelbourne Scout, or Berroco Ultra Alpaca Light for these projects, but we are happy to show you some other options. Watch as your knitting know-how grows like the sprouting leaves on your hat or cowl.

Bondi Beach Bag

When we first saw the Bondi Beach bag by Arella Seaton, we all instantly fell in love- it's one of those projects you instantly know is going to be a fun knit. Not only is it a great way to learn mosaic knitting (beautiful colorwork without all of the fancy finger work,) but the modular knitting and elegant construction really make this bag a work of art. In this class, Susan will walk you through the mosaic knitting, teaching you the technique and helping you identify colors that work well together and those that don't. In the final class you will learn to attach the panels and construct the strap.

This is an intermediate class, you will need experience with basic increases and knitting in the round.

Virus Shawl/Kercheif

Crochet this compelling shawl or kerchief and you’ll soon be ‘hooked’ on this pattern. The virus stitch pattern creates a complex looking design, but builds by simply repeating the same four rows making it accessible for most levels of crocheters. This is a great opportunity to learn to read a crochet chart, a skill that will take your craft to a new level. Make it out of sock yarn or a warm weather yarn like Berroco Tillie. No matter what you choose, we bet you can’t make just one!!

You’ll leave this class with both new skills and a renewed appreciation to what goes into making all that beautiful yarn that you love.
