Dear Neighbor,
I know this week’s major water main break has caused significant frustration and hardship across the City. I want you to know that I am committed to ensuring that everyone has access to safe drinking water during this challenging time.
While, thankfully, water pressure appears to have been restored for most residents City-wide, last night the City issued a cautionary boil water advisory.
Per Veolia, at the direction of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, a boil advisory was issued and described in the City’s Nixle Alert issued at 10:17 pm.
Until further notice:
“Residents should boil their water before using it for drinking or cooking purposes. Even if their water is filtered at home, residents must boil their water for one minute and allow it to cool for the following uses: drinking, cooking, baking, washing dishes, making ice cubes, taking medication, brushing teeth, washing food, mixing baby formula, mixing juices or drinks, feeding pets or other consumption.
Water does not have to be boiled for showering or washing clothes.”
