Please help.
My Vanilla Jamaica quilt is lost.  If you have given my quilt a temporary home and didn't know where to return it, my address is PO BOX 325, EMORY, TX 75440.  I last saw it after my program & workshop in Colorado, May 15, 2012.

It traveled with me to the Arapahoe Quilt Guild but once we returned home it grew legs and ran off.  I'm sure it misses me by now, I know I miss it!  Please help Vanilla Jamaica come home.  If you see it anywhere, fold up that crumpled quilt and stick it in a box.  I won't force it to endure any more trips and I am happy to reimburse you for postage. Thank you for your help.

This month we are mailing out the kit for the Original Quarterly Club.  The Original Quarterly Club introduces you to either a new product, a new technique, or a new area of quilting.

Your kit this month is a project working with wool.

Your project finishes to 6" x 10" and hangs perfectly on any of the Ackfeld wire hangers.

Most people think of penny rugs when they think of wool, done in the darker, muted reds, browns, golds and black. As you all know, I am not a traditional person when it comes to design.

Your kit this month will be one of my favorite flowers: a coneflower.  A little touch of spring to look forward to here in the midst of winter!

Yes, I used a black background, but I thought it popped with the drama.

I am fairly new to this whole wool thing, (having fallen deeply in love with the hand dyed wools at Weeks Dye Works during Fall Quilt Market).  I don't have a host of embroidery stitches in my repertoire.

You can see from the photo that I use a blanket stitch (I show my method in the pattern) and a running stitch.  Oh, and a bunch of French Knots.  This is not difficult to do but it is fast and fun. You can sew it while watching a show in the evening.

Or, if you prefer, you can sew all of this together on your sewing machine.

Your kit, as always, comes with everything you need to create the project.  So even though what you get is a surprise, there are no unwelcome surprises when it comes to creating your project.

Tip of the Month

TIP OF THE MONTH IS NOW BACK!
I am excited to say that the tip of the month is back.

This month Morna McEver Golletz has graciously offered her e-zine: Narrowing Down Your Template Choice. This article is aimed at helping the Longarm Quilter but is relevant to all of us, especially if you use the services of a Longarm Quilter.  It helps to understand the challenges faced by the person you are paying & keeps you from unrealistic expectations.

Morna is the founder and manager  of International Association of Professional Quilters.

Today in addition to managing the IAPQ, Morna teaches business-focused classes to quilters, fiber artists and other creative professionals. While Morna doesn't find as much time to quilt today as she used to, she loves working in the quilt industry. It combines her love of fabric and quilting, her training as a journalist and her skills at marketing and business development.  You can learn more about Morna here: http://www.professionalquilter.com/index.phphttp://

I realize that you may not be a quilting professional but I believe what she shares is interesting and helpful for anyone at any level.  After all, we are all in the business of setting goals and striving to achieve them, personally or in business.  The concepts are the same no matter how you apply them to your life.

NEW TO SULKY
I just received information that Sulky is going to be offering all of their 12 weight solid and blendable cotton thread on smaller spools called
"Petites" - 50 yard put-ups for hand-work.

I think this is fabulous.  It makes collecting a large assortment of their luscious colors affordable.  I use 12 weight threads a lot, for thread painting and now am using them in the machine and for handwork when working with the wool.

Don't be surprised if you receive some of the "Petites" in a future Quarterly Club kit, along with some water soluble stabilizer and a project that allows you to create some leaves on a pretty, dimensional work of fiber art.

Follow this link to see all of the colors that are available in these beautiful threads.
