ALISON JACKSON TO FEATURE THE REAL JULIAN ASSANGE ON THE TUBE
Commuters at Regent's Park Tube station are this week being greeted by the image of Obama and Romney squaring up in the ring, followed by Obama enjoying a celebratory cigarette in the Whitehouse Gardens.  Next week we have a new addition to the political visual feast provided for by Alison Jackson, famed for her satirical spoof photographs in which well-known figures are apparently caught unaware.
From Thursday next week Julian Assange playing cards with Hilary Clinton will feature as part of Art Below's Regents Park, which has been planned to co-inside with the Frieze Art Fair (11th -14th Oct)
In this particular piece of work Jackson has actually used the real Julien Assange.  (see image below)

ART BELOW ISTANBUL: NOVEMBER 2012
We are seeking sponsorship to support our very first public art exhibition in the Istanbul Metro. Since 2006 Art Below have enriched the lives of the travelling public in cities including London, Berlin and Tokyo, by giving emerging and established artists access to advertising space to showcase their work.  Drawing upon Istanbul’s unique geographic location as a gateway between East and West, we plan to
feature a rich tapestry of artists from Isatnbul, Berlin and London.
We have secured 50 billboards across the Istanbul metro for one week to coincide with The Istanbul Contemporary Art Fair (22-25 Nov 2012). This is the Istanbul’s biggest and most prestigious art event, attracting thousands of art loving visitors into the city making this an amazing opportunity, for all the artists taking part.
If you are an Istanbul based artist or have any links with the Istanbul art scene then we would like to hear from you.
Please contact banu@artbelow.org.uk for further details.

It's not just the size of someone’s celebrity status, profile, bank balance, titles or past reputation. This is a list that aims to surprise, inspire, and entertain by lifting the lid on the power dynamics within Creative Britain and highlighting where the true day-to-day influence lies. Uniquely, the list contains both emerging and established names, highlighting not only those who are influencing Creative Britain’s immediate future, but also who to watch in the longer term.

With the help of our judges, Time Out and our network of experts from across each industry, we’ve pulled together a shortlist; and now it’s time for YOU to have your say about who represents the future of the creative industries.

Breathe Life into our Facebook group and win a poster on the London Underground to show your work.
It may have come to your attention recently that Facebook are either upgrading the old facebook groups into the new design, or they will be 'archived'.

Well this has come as 'a big smack in the face' for Art Below who have had a facebook group since 2006 and have gradually built a healthy and active following of a few thousand.  Now, thanks to Facebook 'archiving' our group we have a group of exactly 10 members!! So First of all I want to say a genuine 'thank you' to those 10 dedicated members for hanging on in there.

So in an attempt to claw our way back and to co-inside with Social Media Week, we have decided to launch a new initiative to breathe life and love into this once powerful mother ship of social media!  For every 1000 new members, Art Below will award 1 free poster space (1m x 1.5m) on the London Underground.  To grab a chance of winning that poster space,  simply become a member of the Art Below facebook group and upload a piece of your own artwork onto the Wall.  We are open to all creative backgrounds including design, fashion, illustration, sculpture, photography and any other ones that I've missed out.

For every 1000 new group members we will set a loose theme, starting with the theme of THE DIGITAL AGE.  We will take into account how many 'likes' each image gets, but it wont be the central deciding factor that will persuade our judges  if you are the winner.  As well as being awarded a 1 meter x 1.5 meter poster space in a  London Underground station for 2 weeks to show your work, you will also receive a A2 lambda print of your winning design, you will  be announced as the winner on www.artbelow.org.uk, on our media partners sites including ArtLyst.com, and ArtRabbit.com and of course on the Art Below facebook group site!
