Wow, it seems like a lifetime passes between each of these newsletters. So much has happened in the past month and yet not so much at all. Time has flown by while moving at an equally slow pace. I'm so confused by it all. HAHA! You feel me!

Hello friends. How are you?
September was an absolute whirlwind! Some highlights:

...i turned 37 and had the best birthday weekend I could have ever hoped for!
...i went into the studio and recorded a new song! (more on that)
...i played some live outdoor shows
...my song showed up in a Nike commercial!
...and then i had this striking realization that I have been preparing for 2020 my whole life!

So yes, an epic month!

NIKE COMMERCIAL
Yea, so random...just like 2020!
One of my older songs, Promised Land, was used in Nike's commercial featuring Mexican-American athlete Dalia Hurtado! I dug around and did some research on her. Her story is so inspiring and I absolutely love the message of this video and how it parallels the spirit of the song. WATCH IT HERE!
As a side note, this song keeps finding itself in South and Central American video projects b/c of its latin vibes. Here's another video from several years back made by the tourist office of Brazil.

Such a great feeling to be in Connecticut last week! Honestly in a year of very few shows, you set your expectations pretty low when you do get to play a gig in front of real humans. BUT our time playing the Acousticool Concert series in Connecticut takes the cake. Quit literally! Not only was it one of the best house concerts (turned lawn concert) we had played over the years, but the host actually baked me a gluten free apple pecan bundt cake...FROM SCRATCH!

NEW MUSIC COMING SOON!
What a thrill to be in the studio last week!
Ok, ok, so it's not an album, but it's at least a new song (and video) that I am very excited about sharing with you! Peace and I both got to spend some time in Boston recording with my producer, Dave Brophy, working on a song that I have high hopes for! A tiny clip from the day.

Speaking of...my sister, Peace, will also be releasing a song in a few weeks. I'm pretty excited about that as well and will definitely be sharing!  Stay tuned and sit tight!!!

Light exposes everything.
a reflection...

There's not much I know about light except that it changes everything. When even an ounce of light enters the room, darkness can no longer be. It's its own double-edged sword bringing clarity and truth, life and warmth, and at the same time exposing and lowering evil strongholds of death, darkness, and destruction. When light enters the room EVERYTHING CHANGES.
My prayer for our country in these days is that all self-serving, manipulative, hidden agendas of exploitation, corruption, and lip service in the name of justice will crumble. We need true heart repentance and transformation. Our political parties will not save us yet we worship them like gods. Our pride will not save us yet we hold onto it like a security blanket.
Light exposes everything. May it expose the splinters in our own eyes and the stones in our own hearts. I am praying for God to soften the heart of this nation - the heart(s) of this nation. Let us not regret 2020 as a waste of days, but look back and see it as a year of true humbling - the year when we realized we needed more than buzzwords like 'pivot', 'privilege', and 'unprecedented'. Let it be the year when we realized we needed a humbling transformation. Let it truly be the year of 2020 vision.
