2022 Annual General Meeting

ISA Hamilton will be holding a (virtual) AGM on Wed, Jun 1, 2022 at 6pm Eastern.

Our 2022 AGM will be held online using the Zoom platform. To receive the Zoom link, please RSVP via the following Eventbrite link: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/isa-hamilton-2022-agm-virtual-tickets-334999692097

This year's AGM will feature both the AGM content (report on 2021/2022 year, election of next year's board, and plans for next year) and a guest speaker

For this year, we are pleased to offer a humorous presentation by longtime ISA volunteer Peter Baker, who will give a talk entitled "Giving Presentations....Successfully!". About the speaker: https://www.linkedin.com/in/peter-baker-cap-ctech-29a34019/

In the AGM, the slate of officers being proposed for 2022/2023 year, starting on July 1, 2022 is as follows:
  • President - Graham Nasby
  • Vice-President - Mike Bovenkamp
  • Treasurer: Kostas Apostolou
  • Secretary: open
As part of the 2022/2023 slate, Graham Nasby will be running for a 2-year term as ISA Hamilton Section President. Mr. Nasby offers the following candidate statement:

Like it or not, we still are in the midst of a very active global covid-19 pandemic. The ongoing pandemic (and the social unease/fear that comes with it) continues to have a negative impact on our ability to run local events as ISA Hamilton. For example, we have not been able to run any in-person events since February 2020.

I am therefore proposing, as my platform for President of ISA Hamilton Section (for a 2 year term), that we pause all of ISA Hamilton's activities for the next year and half. Then in the fall of 2023, we can re-evaluate the covid-19 situation.  If by late-2023, the pandemic situation has improved and there is sufficient interest from our membership, I will then help the section rebuild its volunteer leadership for the remainder of the 2023-2024 season, with the goal of us electing the next section president for June 2024.On the flip-side, if in late 2023 the pandemic situation has not improved and/or there is no interest from our membership in continuing, I will then use the remainder of the 2023-2024 season to embark on the orderly shutdown of ISA Hamilton (or a merger with another ISA section). My hope is that by late-2023, the pandemic will be behind us and we will have a section membership ready to rebuild our section (or a clear mandate from our membership to shut it down).

If anyone disagrees with this platform, I encourage you to run against me for Section President at our upcoming (virtual) ISA Hamilton Annual General Meeting on Wednesday June 1st, 2022 at 6pm Eastern. All ISA Hamilton members in attendance (virtually) will be eligible to vote.

The AGM will start at 6:00pm Eastern, and will have the following agenda:
  • 6:00pm - introductions & welcome remarks
  • 6:10pm - report on 2021/2022 year
  • 6:20pm - election of officers for 2022/2023
  • 6:30pm - technical speaker Peter Baker: "Giving Presentations....Succssfully!"
  • 7:30pm - adjournment
About our guest speaker:
“Making Presentations…Successfully!” – by Peter Baker, CAP, C.Tech.
As humans, concise, precise & succinct communicating & communication ability is a critical & necessary part of life. Most of us are pretty good in one on one conversations with no time limit or text messaging or Twitter feeds, however, the game can change radically when a) the ratio of active participants changes; (b) the subject matter becomes more defined c) the time is limited and/or d) there is an expected purpose or result.
This seminar (mathematically based on K3 Know yourself, Know your Audience & Know your subject) will cover presentation skills useful in training, new product introductions, technical concepts & ideas projects and pretty much anything else you want. We will discuss subject preparation, presentation strategies & formatting, technical tools, lalophobia, summaries and final discussion/questions. Peter Baker has been presenting for decades on a wide range of subjects across locations from China, the US & Canada to Mexico.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly.
