Issue #179  June  2020

Years from now, we'll remember this strange time in history in many ways. We'll have new words in our vocabulary like coronavirus, social distancing & herd immunity. And we'll remember the isolation, uncertainty & fear as life as we knew it came to a grinding halt!
But here's the deal-- Those aren't the only things I want to remember from 2020. That's why I've been determined (and I hope you are too) to use this time to the best of my ability...not by pretending everything is OK (because it's NOT), but by finding a way to move forward anyway! Kiss So with that, let me show you some of what's been going on here since last month!

May 2020 "Eye Candy"
The bags you see below are among those that customers have shared recently on either our FaceBook business page, our Instagram feed or on our NEW FaceBook Group page. So thanks to EVERYONE! They were ALL great but here's a few of my faves!

Gretchen Adams said that this little Go-Go Compact was a bit of a workout, but she’s VERY pleased with the results! I can sure see why, right?

Mary Larson made her latest Sling Along out of chenille upholstery which means it’s going to be ultra-durable! She added that she’s totally in LOVE with that red!
Celia Ann Oliver is back with what might be her most incredible Bellagio Bag EVER (and that’s saying a LOT)! Celia used Harris Tweed for the entire exterior and added a pretty Robert Kaufman lining.

Nancy Rosa used fabrics & notions she already had on hand for this Boho Baguette since she wasn’t at all sure how this bag would turn out, but said this bag was so much fun to make that she can’t wait to make another!
Elaine Thousand has made several Sling Along‘s but she said this is her absolute favorite so far! I love the cork fabric she used on the front pocket and the embroidery she added is great!

Pat Kroesch‘s favorite thing about her Cosmo Convertible? She loves that it can be worn as a backpack, a cross-body bag AND a shoulder bag!
Everyone’s favorite guy sewist, Don Distler is back in a BIG way with our new design from last Fall, the Gateway! And all dressed up in Tula Pink fabric, this little bag REALLY knows how to make an entrance!

And Nancy Rosa loved the look of her Boho Baguette (above) SO much that she decided to make herself a matching Encore Purse Insert. Nancy added that she’s learned a LOT by working with our patterns!
I have a feeling that this adorable Gateway (and the one below) are going to be BIG hits with our readers! They were BOTH made by Tracy Williams!

Tracy said she had a lot of fun making these two Gateway‘s and that this design is perfect for panel prints! I just can’t decide which of these bags I love the most!

New from StudioKat Designs - the Side Slinger
Our new pattern, the Side Slinger was released a few weeks ago just in case you missed it!

This pattern is a perfect "unisex" option and can be worn under a jacket of sweater for the ultimate in security & undetectability! It boasts lots of storage and we've included a separate set of templates for right-handed wearers AND left-handed wearers.

We used a very lightweight cork for our cover sample (at right) and since many of you have asked if we could start carrying a few other varieties of this special cork, we now have 4 other varieties on our website which you can see HERE! And if you'd like to avoid having to shop for the supporting items for this pattern such as hardware &

By the look of his laptop (at right), Robert Van Els could be mistaken for a secret agent. His screen is an explosion of urgent files — a master control center for managing clandestine operatives. The man of mystery persona is typified by a side-sliding sports car winding through an onslaught of Word docs and Jpeg files. Just looking at his desktop can raise your blood pressure. But Van Els is not a secret agent. He’s a mess!

You might not be surprised to learn that every single Quilt Show in this country since mid-March of this year has been cancelled due to the Covid-19 virus, and there's no end in sight. This is a HUGE loss for the show owners, the customers, the vendors, the teachers AND the contestants!
