On January 25th WECAN will have its next job fair at the Flamingo Clark County Library, with patients showing up wanting to work in the industry and connect with dispensaries / cultivation facilities, so they can make their one time sale of genetics and product as dictated by NV law.  If we can connect patients with your business, please contact us.
We would welcome your sponsorship of our job fair  - which would guarantee a copy of patient / prospective employees contact information that come to the job fair.  It would also include a 15 minute spot to speak at the job fair to make a presentation to prospective employees or customers.
We are in need of more individuals connected into the cannabis industry to interview for our broadcast radio show and youtube channel.  Please contact (Beach@wecan702.org) if interested.  This would get the word out about your NV MME facility and also help with branding.

The Las Vegas Medical Marijuana Association is going to have another luncheon on Tuesday November 25th. RSVP Below.

Panel Discussion:

Chris G - Stated that county will meet in 2 weeks with regards to licensing to determine what will happen to companies approved by the state by denied by Clark County.  Stated that she thought county’s approvals would be given first consideration by state when they issued licenses.  The county will make further changes in their law this year to allow cannabis to cross county lines.  She expressed the importance of transferability of licenses in the future.

Carlos B - stated the police are providing more leniency with regard to cannabis in people’s systems, seeing DUI under cannabis cases where the charge is only reckless driving.  Tick Segerblom is not going to be the chair of the judiciary committee next year in the NV legislature and he is not sure how the current NV legislature is going to be friendly or unfriendly to making any changes to MJ Nevada law or making a decision about recreational use.

Steve W - He worries about the DUI laws in Nevada.  He has worked with metro to create “DRE”, Drug recognition experts.  These individuals will be able to tell level of impairment for marijuana users.  When asked by me about how Clark County would enforce existing provisions or more clarified details with regards to the law saying Clark County dispensaries must consider purchasing cannabis from existing facilities in Clark County unless a specific strain is available elsewear - he was a bit evasive or did not know.

Analysis / Opinion - This would indicated to me that MMEs outside of Clark County could sell cannabis to dispensaries within Clark County because there is little chance that this will be enforced.  These MMEs would also develop specific / proprietary genetic strains that would also allow them to sell to Clark County Dispensaries.  Who in North Las Vegas and City of Las Vegas is going to create strains based on old Las Vegas casinos? Showboat Kush, Aladdin Kush or Stardust Kush? Anyone?

Clark County Law:

Table 30.44-1

5. Medical Marijuana shall be obtained from a Cultivation Facility or Production Facility within Clark County if an adequate supply is available.

“Adequate Supply” means the immediate availability of a sufficient quantity and quality
of medical marijuana at a reasonable price of any specific strain of marijuana.

Further Opinion / Analysis: People are reporting that illegal delivery / dispensaries are being shut down at a dramatic rate after they have been allowed to exist for the last year.  Check out weedmaps.com if you have not already.  The media has not reported this and it was speculated by those in the MJ community that this would happen once the state announced who the MMEs were in Nevada in November.
