Acts 5:18-20 (NKJV) They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail. But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail and brought them out. "Go, stand in the temple courts," he said, "and tell the people the full message of this new life."
THE LORD OPENS THE DOORS
On the road of life, many Christians these days are focusing on signs. It is true that God had accompanied both His message and His first messengers with many signs and wonders before the time the New Testament had been written down in full as we have it today. Because there was no written Word about the life of the promised Christ at that time, He left it to His first apostles and disciples to "Go" and deliver the message about Him with great power. So the Lord opened the doors for them to go.
Not long before this Acts 5 account, the Lord opened another door. That is the one I continue to celebrate not only during this season of Easter, but each day of my life. When the Lord commanded that the stone be rolled away from the tomb, it revealed not only that Jesus' body was no longer lying there, but that He had risen from the dead! This was the ultimate sign that Jesus had once and for all defeated sin, death, and the devil and now lived in triumphant glory.
But the Lord also continues to open the door for me every day. Jesus has freed me from the bondage and entombment of sin by freely giving me His life and salvation! He gives me courage also like those first apostles to go and spread this joyous news while daily opening doors of opportunity. So what prison cell do I need to fear? What tomb do I need to worry about? Thanks be to God who gives me all these precious victories through my Lord Jesus Christ!
On the road of life, the road that leads to heaven is filled with signs and miracles, but I look for and my hope is in the ones that are recorded, fulfilled, and yet to come as shown and promised to me in the Bible. And these are the signs and wonders that I am "Go-ing" to lovingly share with other people.
