Next week our speaker is Phil Cooling FRPS. Phil visited us recently to judge the Creative Competition, so this week we will get a chance to reverse the tables and see some of his work when he presents his talk: Weird & Wonderful...ish. Phil's description of his talk is below:
I first picked up a digital camera in 2008 and my first competition entries were dreadful (I will share some of these with you). I quickly got over this phase and began to win competitions at home and abroad. I attained my ARPS in 2010 (Natural History) and my Fellowship in 2014 (Visual Art). My presentation, called "Weird & Wonderful...ish" takes you along my journey from taking anything and everything to specialising in creative composites. There should be something in the talk to appeal to all, from steam trains to steamy nudes and everything in between....see you there.

The next Digital Imaging Group Meeting will be on Monday 12 August at 7.30pm.
These meetings are informal and take place at the clubrooms and via zoom. It is a great opportunity to share your work with other members or simply to gain some inspiration.
If you would like some advice, to share a project you have been working on or simply want to share some of your images outside the competition environment please send your images to dig@bristolphoto.org.uk by 5.00pm on Saturday 10 August so they can be included
Please number your images in the order you would like them to be viewed and resize to the usual competition size, not essential but helps to keep the files to a manageable size.
Last month we were privileged to look at and share some diverse and interesting images, styles and projects from Mick Jupp, Simon Caplan, Colin Dixon and Steve Field
We also enjoyed seeing the amazingly creative and varied results of Ashwin Chauhan’s DI challenge, where Ashwin supplied a number of his images and invited members to take them and edit. Watch this space for more…….
See some of the images below to get a taste of what we enjoyed including one of the Challenge images.
We viewed the first ideas for the Kingswood Salver WCPF inter-club print competition for a panel of five images from five different photographers, which will be held later in the year. Many thanks for all those that have contributed additional images, we will be taking a further look at progress at the next meeting.
