Knitted Greetings

Welcome to another newsletter packed with goodies of the yarn and needles (or hook) variety. As always, we at S&BL are aiming to brighten your Monday and entice you into the woolly kingdom, and this week is no exception…come on in, it’s snugly.

Our meeting at St. James’s Park saw a few knitters brave a night out after the bank holiday and wander round the park pondering if that crowd of people were knitters or not (it turns out they were teenage boys). But we all came together in the end at Inn The Park Café for some political discussions and scrumptiously thick hot chocolate. At QEH, heaps of you turned up despite the rail chaos to share knitting gossip, sneak in food and drink from the Royal Festival Hall and get frustrated with a disappearing stitch (where the hell did it go???).

In other news, NOVEMBER 10TH 2007 marks the Queen of the Skein, Debbie Stoller, touching down on our shores to celebrate Stitch ‘n’ Bitch UK Day. To mark this momentous day and visit, we at Stitch and Bitch London are calling all our fellow SnB groups in the UK to join with us in creating a very special SnB UK blanket. If your group wants to knit their bit then e-mail us at for further details. More news on the SnB UK Day coming soon.

On to the meetings…

Stitch and Look Where We Ended Up

This year is Vogue Knitting magazine’s 25th anniversary. For those of you who are not familiar with the American publication, you need to get your woolly mitts on it ASAP. Filled with fashion forward patterns, fabulous articles, ideas and styles for the coming season this is the crème de la crème of knitting magazines and certainly lives up to it’s big sister Vogue. Buy your copy from Pavi Yarns, which delivered our copy quickidy-split. As a massive bonus for us all at S&B London, turn to page 28 to see your favourite Lion scarfing team in action – thank you Vogue Knitting!

Stitch and Cosy Up For Charity

At S&B London, we love to knit for a good cause. So knitters, stand by with your needles. St John's Ambulance need us to help raise funds for their vital life-saving work. The BIG Tea Cosy is a nationwide event being held on the 30th November this year. St John's Ambulance need 5000 knitted tea cosies which they will sell to raise money for this hard working charity. If you have never knitted a tea cosy before, do not despair. They have teamed up with Laughing Hens who have provided a free tea cosy pattern. If you're feeling extra creative, you can even spice it up and give it your own design. There is no limit to how crazy your finished cosy can be, so see what you can come up with knitters! You could also win the Laughing Hens tea cosy of the week! For information on where to send your cosy, see the St John's Ambulance website.

Unfortunately, you’ve reached the back door of the woolly kingdom for another week. Feel free to drop us an email if you think there’s anything we should know about going on in this crafty orld and don’t forget to come down and see us at a group meet up some time… after all Christmas is only 106 days to go!
