John Parker

Former Scotland Island resident John Parker passed away on Monday 14
October following a short illness. John leaves his partner, Jocelyn
Righton and her daughter Jane, also former residents of Scotland Island.
John came to the Island in the 80’s and was an active member of our
community, including the Scotland Island Rural Fire Brigade, which he
joined in 1988 and held numerous Brigade positions, including Captain.
He left the Island to take a role with NSW Rural Fire Service, as a
Fire Control Officer in the Parry District, Tamworth in 2001, a role he
fulfilled for two years, prior to transferring to a regional role in
the Region South Office at Batemans Bay. John retired in 2012 following
six years as the Regional Community Safety Manager.
John continued his commitment to the betterment of NSWRFS volunteers
and was an active member of the Rural Fire Service Association
fulfilling a role as a State Councillor and State Executive Member.
John will be sadly missed by all those who knew him.
