Canoe Trip – Basingstoke Canal – 29th September
Winchfield Hurst - Greywell Tunnel & Return
 
A day canoe on the Basingstoke Canal from Winchfield Hurst to the Greywell Tunnel and return. A trip of approx. 9 miles.
 
This is suitable for anyone with Explore/2* paddling skills
 
DETAILS: Meet at 9.30, in the Canal side Carpark opposite the Barley Mow, in Winchfield Hurst; Turn Left at the Barley Mow crossroads, then immediate left.
This is a flat-water paddle on the Basingstoke Canal and will take us past Odiham Castle, Cross the River Whitewater via an aqueduct to the entrance of the Greywell tunnel the furthest point on the canal.
 
It is expected to be off the water at 15:00, but this is subject to the requirements of the party.
We will welcome all canoeists and kayakers in Scouting, but any large group of Scouts should have a responsible adult to accompany them.
 
If you are unable to supply your own craft and equipment you may book them from the SSWAC Canoe Centre through me.
As we are not starting the trip at Godalming you may collect them by arrangement in the week prior.
 
All the usual clothing and equipment suitable for prevailing weather conditions will be required, plus a suitable drink and packed lunch.
