Hello, Firstname |
|
|
Next Wednesday, 28 October, we are pleased to welcome Hugh Hastings to our screens when he will present his talk: Sony Alpha Pro Photojournalist.
We have received the following from Hugh:

As Getty Images editorial photographer for Cornwall I spend all my working life now travelling around the county and creating images for the main Getty news site and onward distribution literally all over the world, with about a third of sales being in the USA.
Most of this work features people and images that rely on getting on with people to make the shots work, ie “Clicking with People”
As this is the approach I have used all my pro working life, right back to being Chelsea FC’s official photographer for ten years, and my current work for the Duchy of Cornwall too, it is a genuine representation of how I work and indeed how any photojournalist needs to work these days to carve out a career.
I will also talk about other things, in particular how one has to create one's own future these days, whether we are talking a career, an interest or a niche. You have to be self-made these days.
Should be fun!

The talk starts at 19:30hrs but will be open from 19:15hrs.

Last week I mentioned the success that Sue O'Connell and Rachel Domleo had in the RPS Western Region Monthly Competition. I now have the two successful images for you all to see.

The Photography Course has not been exempt from the effects of Covid-19 which both affected the number of people signing up for the course (9) and the way the course has been run. This year the course has been held using the Zoom platform and I understand that things are going extremely well, with the various BPS members/tutors giving their talks using PowerPoint presentations. However, some aspects could not be done over the internet and there have been several "live" meetings, with trips to Blaise Castle and the City Docks followed this week by heavily modified versions of the studio evenings which have been held this week with numbers being cut down to 3 or 4 socially distanced members per session spread over several evenings. |
