4. Pet Food News
A note from Susan Thixton: Something’s VERY Different This Year. Who can explain it? Fewest recalls of pet food since last year and before. Why?
"So what happened this year? Did all pet food manufacturers suddenly decide to produce only clean pet food with no contaminants? Or did regulatory authorities decide to take the year off – state and federal authorities decided to look the other way on almost everything?" It certainly makes you wonder.
Can Cats Drink Milk?
Most cats are lactose intolerant. Cats are only equipped to digest dairy when they are very young. Even then, they are only meant to drink the milk produced by their own species.

5. Make your own calendars for 2023
With the end of the year fast approaching, now is a good time to think about a calendar for the new year. Of course, they're available in most stores, and often can be obtained for free from banks, insurance companies, local businesses, and if you ever donate to charitable causes, you will probably end up on a mailing list and get a free calendar every year anyway.
But if you'd like to make your own, here are some options that will allow you to share your own photos or artwork:

6. Did You Know?
Belgium once tried to use cats as a mail delivery service!
Throughout history, horses, dogs, and pigeons have all been used to help deliver mail. In 1876, the small city of Liege, Belgium thought, "Why not try out cats?" A small group called the Belgian Society for the Elevation of the Domestic Cat trained 37 cats to find their way back home after being left in far-away fields. The cats took over 24 hours to do so, and the experiment was deemed an utter failure. Since then, no country has tried to use cats as messengers, especially after the rise of Email and cell phones.

Feline Leukemia
Feline Leukemia Virus, discovered in the 1960s, is a transmittable RNA retrovirus that can severely inhibit a cat's immune system. It is a commonly diagnosed cause of disease and death in domestic cats. But not the only one. Read on...
Antibiotics
Not safe for cats: Neosporin
It may be tempting to slather Neosporin on your cat when you see it has a
wound. But this first-aid kit staple, otherwise called triple
antibiotic ointment, isn't recommended for use on cats.
Lysine...a controversial nutrient
Many cat owners attest to the effectiveness of this amino acid for the treatment of upper respiratory infection (URI). However, the experts have been doing more research and have found it's not as useful as many believe. Indeed, in my own shelter and rescue work, I have never seen any benefit from this product.
