Digital Imaging Group
I have received the following from Ashwin:

"The DI Group meeting on Monday promises to be an exciting evening. Greg Duncan, who performed magic with Photoshop in his talk last Wednesday, has kindly agreed to give practical demonstration of elements from his masterclasses on Photoshop focusing on layer masks (not the same as adjustment layer) sharpening, cloning, etc. It will not be technical but show how he uses Photoshop to get the best out of it. With his vast knowledge on the subject I am sure we will discover lots of new things. At last month’s meeting I understand there was a request to show how to make borders in Photoshop. Neil McCoubrey, also a Photoshop expert, will be demonstrating that.
As usual everyone is welcome to the DI meeting and hopefully we will have time to show one or two presentations if members would like to bring them along. Look forward to seeing you.

Ashwin
PS. I will have extra chocolate biscuits in anticipation of a bigger gathering"

The Most Important Lady In The Society
I think that most of you will agree, Gill Peeke deserves a medal for the work she does week in, week out, to make sure that members have refreshments during the mid-evening break. For as long as I can remember (and I've been a member for 17 years) every week a figure has crept through the middle of the room just before the interval and, trying to avoid the projector beam, disappeared into the kitchen, only to reappear a few minutes later with refreshments for all. Gill can no longer guarantee being able to attend every week; we are therefore looking for a volunteer who Gill could contact if she can't turn up, someone who can step in and make sure that things are organised for the evening - not a hugely onerous task, but one I'm sure you'll agree is very important.
If you think you can help, could you please let Carol know, either by telephone 0117 9241338 or email - secretary@bristolphoto.org.uk

Bristol International Salon
Don't forget, the closing date for FREE entry to the Bristol Salon draws ever closer - 16 March. Full entry details can be found on the BPS website.

Scottish International Salon
Bob Micklethwaite is trying to put together a group entry to the Scottish Salon. By doing this, the cost of entry can be reduced to £1 per print for 20 or more, which shows a saving of up to 50%. It has to be entered by one group leader online and the prints are to be unmounted A3.
There are three sections Open Colour, Open Monochrome and Nature. The Salon has FIAP Approval and PSA Recognition. If you would like to take advantage of this, you need to get your prints to Bob by 20 March at the latest so that he can get everything packaged and sent off in time to meet their closing date of 30 March.

The Scottish have made special arrangements with the Edinburgh International and the Northern Counties International for prints to be forwarded on to them after the close of the Scottish. This drastically cuts down the cost of postage, but you will have to indicate if you want to take advantage of this on your Scottish entry form.

To summarise, the cost will £1 per print Scottish plus postage share. There are also fees for Edinburgh and Northern Counties but at the moment Bob doesn't have these costs as the entry forms are not online.

For full details of the Scottish, please click here.

If you have any questions, Bob's telephone number is 01934830507
