1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
LIVE FOR "THE DAY" (4)
To live for "The Day" is to follow "God's will for you in Christ Jesus." And what is God's will for you in Christ? What does He want? He wants you to have a life of rejoicing; to enjoy a life of constant communication with Him; and to live in joyful thankfulness. What could be better than following that will of God for you?
The world would say this is a nice dream to rejoice ALWAYS, but it is impossible to reach. Life throws too many curve balls to be able to rejoice all the time. But such a life is possible in Christ. We can rejoice always when we always keep before us the incredible love of God in Christ.
Such joy comes from a thankful heart. We can give thanks "in ALL CIRCUMSTANCES," when we know and remember that God does make "all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose" (Romans 8:28). Learn to look for the blessing in every tragedy and you will find reason to give thanks in it.
You've heard the saying, "Seize the Day!" That is the worldly philosophy for having a great life. Take a hold of life and live each day to the fullest. That again is the recipe for being overtaken by the Day of Christ's return and not being able to escape the destruction it will bring to all unbelievers. But we can and should seize the Day in a proper, godly manner. We can take a hold of the will of God for us in Christ. Each day rejoice in God's blessings and love in Christ. In every circumstance give thanks to God for His preserving love.
Seize the day by communicating with God. Listen to Him in His word and pray continually. Let your thoughts and feelings, your worries and requests all be brought before God in prayer. Always be seeking His will and guidance and blessing in your life.
What a blessed life as we live in longing for the Day of Christ's return and following His will for us. It is truly a joyful life.
