Huntsville Marathon Newsletter
February 2013

2013 Registration Begins February 15, 2013...

Dear 2012 Huntsville Marathon Participant,

Thanks to you, our inaugural 2012 marathon was an overwhelming success.  In fact, probably one of the most successful all-volunteer led inaugural marathons in the history of running.

We are excited to announce that the Second Annual Huntsville Utah Marathon will take place September 28th, 2013.  Registration will open February 15, 2013.

We listened to your suggestions and have instituted many great improvements for this year's race.  We will use the success we enjoyed in 2012 as a starting point for 2013 and beyond.  It will only get better.

We had some 1400 runners last year and we expect more for 2013.  However, many procrastinators missed out last year and were turned away.  We are offering substantial price incentives for those who sign up early, with the first deadline being March 15th  Visit our web site at www.HuntsvilleUtahMarathon.com for the details.

We also invite you to visit and "Like" our Facebook page www.facebook.com/huntsvillemarathon where you will receive pertinent updates and reminders.

Many of you asked for more races, and we are proud to announce that this year, in addition to the Full and Half Marathon, we will also have a 10K, 5K, a 1 mile Mayor's walk and a children’s fun run.  Now everyone in the family can participate and take home a T-shirt.

Last year we chose a 10:00 A.M. start time to accommodate unpredictable fall weather and to make it easier on those who were traveling many miles to attend our race.  We have moved the start time up to 9:00 am, which will be a perfect compromise between the cool temperatures at the start line and the warmer midmorning and afternoon temperatures at the finish line.

We will also have more aid stations near the end of the race as well as water sprays for those needing to cool down.

We are instituting many more of your suggestions and our goal is to make this the greatest fall race anywhere.

Administratively, we have formed a non-profit organization which will operate the marathon, and we plan to donate proceeds to Huntsville Town and other non profit organizations in and around the Ogden Valley to help promote recreation.

We expect the race to fill up this year, so we urge you to enroll early and invite your friends to do the same.

We look forward to welcoming you to Huntsville in September.

Sincerely,

The Huntsville Marathon Committee
