Joan Symes would like to thank everyone for their kindness and cards of condolence following the recent death of her husband, Michael.

We have received the following request regarding Ron Veres. If anyone has a recollection of him, or the pictures referred to, could you please let me know.
Roland 'Ron' Veres Mystery
I am conducting some family history research for my daughter-in-law. A second cousin of hers was Roland 'Ron' Veres (1929-1996). He was said to be a keen photographer and to have used a Hasselblad Camera. When he died in 1996, it is on record that a friend [called 'Gordon'] thought some of his slides should be preserved and is said to have given them together with his enlarger, to 'a Bristol Photographic club'. I am guessing that the 'club' is your Society.
I would like to know if you have any record of Ron Veres and whether this material still exists. I wonder if you can check your records and ask members with long memories about this. I am based in Bristol., as is my daughter-in-law. but Ron Veres was born and died in Liverpool, so it is a mystery as to why this material should be gifted to a Bristol-based Society .
I could not decide which of the officers to send this message to, so please forward as appropriate
Thank you Brian Pollard

Yes, it's that time of year again, when I start pestering you for entries to the upcoming Bristol Salon of Photography. For those of you who aren't too sure what the Bristol Salon is: it is an international photographic exhibition that has been running since 1947 and is one of the largest exhibitions of its type in the UK attracting entries from nearly 70 different countries.
Entrants may submit up to 24 images across 6 digital sections (Open, Monochrome, Creative, Scapes, Action & Nature) These are put before a panel of selectors who pick the top 20% to 25% or so to be accepted. Entry for BPS members is free as long as we receive your entry before 17 January, after that you will have to pay the full fee.
Entry is via the Bristol Salon tab on the BPS website, where you can also find full details. When entering, be sure to tick the box on the first page of the entry system to say that you are a BPS member and fill in your BPS membership number which you will find at the top of this newsletter. When you get to the payment page at the end, click ALREADY PAID.
Here's hoping that we see a rush of entries, but in the meantime if you have any queries, feel free to email me at chairman@bristolsalon.co.uk
Entries have already started coming in, so we are looking forward to a bumper entry this year. As can be seen from the picture below, things have changed a bit over the years. The picture features, apart from a couple of extremely handsome club members, what things looked like pre digital!

The following from WCPF:
On 14th November 2020 two hundred members of WCPF Clubs watched the live Zoom Judging of Leigh Woolford. This “Pictures to Exe” sequence contains 214 images including the 25 Panels and the Winners and could make an interesting addition to a Club Meeting - click here.
There is no music or commentary, operated manually by forward or back arrow keys. It is a Windows exe file, Mac versions of PTE are not available
