The following is from Ashwin Chauhan, Chairman of the DI Group:
1. The DI challenge results are available for viewing on the following link2. Digital Imaging Group – Training/workshop Sessions: Following the recent survey on the needs of the members and the way forward for the Digital Group it appears that there is a good deal of interest in learning more about digital techniques, mostly in Photoshop, Elements and Lightroom. I will reveal the results of the survey shortly. It seems the best way forward is to organise an extra technical session either on a Monday evening (not the regular DI meeting) or Sunday half day in the clubroom. The first session would most likely be on ‘Looking into Lightroom’ as soon as I can gather information about the level of interest in it. Would those interested in the first session on Lightroom, to be held within the next three or four weeks, please send me an email ( a.chauhan@blueyonder.co.uk) stating whether they would prefer Sunday or Monday. Depending on the availability of the clubroom and the speaker I can arrange the session. I would also like to hear from all others who might be interested in similar sessions on Photoshop and Elements. Please feel free to write what you are looking for in these technical sessions and I will communicate directly with them. Ashwin Chauhan

As you will see, there isn't much news this week, resulting in a fairly short newsletter. If you have something that you think fellow members might like to read about, whether it be something about a forthcoming event or just somthing you'd like to get off your chest, please send it to me at the usual address, newsletter@bristolphoto.org.uk. Alternatively, you might have a picture that has done well for you and you'd like to show it off to your fellow members. In that case, just email it to me (I'll do any necessary re-sizing) and I'll publish it.

B&B - Your Society Needs YOU!
|
We are still looking for volunteers for would be "mine hosts".
One of the biggest expenditures the Society has is that of providing visiting speakers and judges with a bed for the night. This usually involves putting them up in an hotel and paying for an evening meal & breakfast; this is not unreasonable as some of them have travelled considerable distances to give us their time (usually for nothing); however there are two downsides to this, the first, as already eluded to, is that of cost to the Society and the second is the rather impersonal nature of hotels. Do you think that you could act as "mine host" on the odd occasion, all you would need to do is provide a bed + an evening meal and breakfast (the Treasurer will make sure that you aren't out of pocket). In return you get the satisfaction of having saved the Society some money and made our visitor feel welcome.
If you think you can help, please contact Derwood and let him know, his email address is derwood1004@gmail.com

Does anyone have a copy of the September issue of the BS6 magazine that they could let me have? If you do, please email me ( newsletter@bristolphoto.org.uk) and I can make arrangements to get it from you. There is an article about the move to Montpelier in the magazine and I'd like a copy for the club archives.
