Hello Los Manatees nation. There is still a little bit of the summer left and we intend to squeeze every last drop of juice out of this grape.
The Dutch Tavern recently outlawed drum sets. This is a result of their insurance company informing them that, statistically, drum sets encourage dancing which increases the chances of an injury and/or fighting. The Dutch couldn't afford the big increases in their insurance premiums so the drums had to go. And the same goes for the open mic nights. I'm not kidding. They showed us the official letter.
Los Manatees keyboardist Karl Frick has recently been playing righteous bass (his first instrument) with the band while regular bassist Randy Wagner vacations with his family down at the New Jersey shore. (Karl continues to play bass and host the weekly "Barto Thursday Night Jam" in Barto, PA.)
Manatees Fun Fact: And speaking of Randy Wagner, did you know that today (Aug. 22) is Randy's fabulous wife Cheri's birthday? It's true! (On behalf of the entire Manatees International Community I would like to wish her a very happy birthday.)
September sees our return to Sette Luna in Easton, PA (Fri., Sept. 7), our last Fitzwater Station show of the year (Sun., Sept. 9), the annual "Jeep-A-Thon" (with fireworks) in Harleysville, PA (Sat., Sept. 22), the annual Asher's Chocolates Fall Fest (with clowns, free food and drink, face-painting, prizes, etc.) in Franconia, PA (Sat., Sept. 29), and our debut at Da Vinci's in Collegeville, PA (Sat., Sept. 29). You can consult our schedule for times and locations.
Manatees Fun Fact: Did you know that the new Manatees studio album is finally finished being recorded and is now in the final mixing stages? It's true!
