Good Cents Rounds Up for Charity
Good Cents is a donation program that supports our local community. We received several nominees to be our next Good Cents recipient for Sep-Oct 2016. Please remember that only local non-profit groups are eligible for nomination. Please vote here; the poll will close Sunday, August 21st at 8:30 pm.
And now, the nominees: Central Coast Grown, Outside Now, Rita's Rainbows, Slow Money SLO, Surfrider Foundation-SLO Chapter, and Womenade. Descriptions are from the groups' websites; please visit and learn about their good work here in our community.
We work to build local, sustainable and fair food systems by connecting the members of our community to the abundance of local food and farming in the County. Projects like City Farm, San Luis Obispo, the Public Land Survey, and the Food System Assessment provide information and resources to help more our community in this direction.
Outside Now is dedicated to growing humans...the way Nature intended. We create and hold the framework for youth and adults alike, to experience greater connection, to deepen personal and communal resilience, and to celebrate our place in the web of life. We offer programs for a variety of ages, from 3 years old to 18 years old.

Rita's Rainbows was created to serve the memory of Rita Marie Goehner and provides charitable assistance both financially and through programs to benefit children and teens who demonstrate a need. 100% of the funds raised go directly to the children and teens.

Slow Money is an international movement with non-profit headquarters in Boulder, Colorado. Slow Money SLO is an independent, local network of Slow Money. Slow Money SLO's mission is to support the sustainable growth of small businesses which benefit the local food economy and the health of SLO County.

Our ocean, waves, and beaches belong to all of us and it is our job to protect them. The Surfrider Foundation is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves, and beaches through a powerful activist network. Surfrider focuses on five key areas: beach access, clean water, ocean protection, coastal preservation, and plastic pollution.

Womenade is a network of community members that donates items, time, and money to meet essential needs of County residents. All funds collected go directly to support those in crisis. Referrals come from schools, medical professionals, county health departments, and organizations such as Family Care Network, Women's Shelter, CAPSLO, and Prado Day Center.
