Beyond The Wall
From Mike Hall:

Beyond The Wall is returning!

I am pleased to announce the return of Beyond The Wall, our first meeting since the Pandemic struck.

On Tuesday 5 April at 7.00pm we welcome Tim Jones from Fotospeed who will present an evening entitled Demystifying Printing with Tim Jones.

Tim will take you through the basics of printing your own photographs at home starting with an introduction on colour management and the steps you will need in place to achieve great prints on Fotospeed papers including Black and Whites. Tim will also take you through proofing ideas for your prints on screen via soft proofing and also illustrate Tim's preferred technique of printing a test print. The evening finishes with a talk on choosing the right paper for your pictures and what to look out for when choosing a paper.

There will be discounts available on all Fotospeed papers.

Tim's Bio:
Tim is an Academy lead and Technical Manager at Fotospeed. Before joining Fotospeed in Corsham, Tim worked as a freelance photographer for over 10 years, he also worked as a digital re-toucher during this time, as well as exhibiting his work. Tim leads the Photoshop, Lightroom, Monochrome and Practical printing courses at Fotospeed and is an Adobe Photoshop Associate. He will be sharing his personal knowledge and experiences of working with Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom as a photographer, and how he has used the software for printing and editing his work over the last 15 years. Tim completed his MA in Photography at Falmouth University in 2021.

RPS Western Region
A thankyou from Sue O’Connell and Peter Brisley

Our thanks to members who attended the RPS Western Region talk we gave last Sunday - your support was really appreciated. Special thanks too to Suzanne Allen (WR Organiser and club member) for her expert hosting of the event making it a breeze for speakers. It was quite a responsibility to make it worth people’s while to give up their Sunday morning but we've had some wonderful feedback including “outstanding images”, “I enjoyed every single minute!” and our favourite, “worth getting up at 5.30 in the morning!” - thanks Ramesh in Ottawa for that!

Peter thinks we should probably retire now while we're on a high!!!

FRAMES Magazine is holding an online Photo Summit, 25-27 March. The speaker lineup is amazing. 12 speakers including world-renowned photographers such as Michael Kenna, Alec Soth, Amy Vitale, Phil Penman, and John Paul Caponigro.  I am incredibly honoured and very excited to be included in this line up.

Tickets don't just give you access to the live talks, you will also get access to all the recordings for 3 months after the event. Therefore it does not matter if you are not able to attend any of the talks, you can catch up at your leisure. If you want to listen to some a second or third time you can.

Trumpet Bowers' Corner
Salon acceptances: BPS photographers are now achieving large numbers of salon acceptances and constraints on time and space mean we can't include them all. So please only advise of awards or other milestones.
Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue
