Next Wednesday is your chance to do something very few club members do - take pictures. It is the Annual BPS Outing, which this year takes place in the centre of Bristol. Members should meet outside the Hole in the Wall pub in Queen Square at 7.30pm. These evenings are always good fun and involve so much that is good for you: walking, gossiping to fellow members, taking pictures etc. Oh - and there's also the small matter of a pint (or two) at the end of the evening (some may even partake before the evening is over!).

Clifton - Residents' Parking Scheme
|
For some time now we, along with other residents of Clifton, have lived under the threat of draconian parking restrictions being introduced. These restrictions threatened to make life almost impossible for local traders and would have meant that members attending club meetings would have been faced with parking charges (that is, assuming they could find a parking space to start with). It now appears that this threat has been lifted until next March; however, we should be long gone by then and well ensconced in our new premises at Montpelier, so thankfully it looks like we won't be affected at all.

New 2014-2015 BPS Handbook & Programme
|
The new programme & handbook has now been published and is available to members from Mike Bews on the next few Wednesday evenings. If you have not already received yours from Mike, you can see the new programme by visiting the BPS website (please click here).
Having a quick flick through the book, a couple of meetings jump out as being particularly worth putting in your diary:
3 September, Chairman's Evening - Rikki O'Neill. Rikki is from Scotland and is what might be called "creative". He is an extremely successful exhibitor in internationals. Its well worth arriving early to make sure of a good seat.
October 8 - Viveca Koh. This is a return visit by Viveca who gave us a wonderful evening last time she came to Bristol.
February 18 - John Hooton. John is coming over from Ireland to judge the Bristol Salon and also to give us his presentation called Gathering Light. If he's anything like the last few speakers we have had from the Emerald Isle, it will be another evening not to miss.
|
Mike Bews has been laying down the law to the solicitors dealing with the sale of 12 West Mall and purchase of Montpelier, the result of which is that we anticipate exchanging contracts within the next couple of weeks with a hoped for completion at the beginning of December.

John Hudson has received the following email from Emma Jenkinson which is self explanatory. If you are interested in the kit being offered, please contact Emma directly. To view the list of items, please follow this link.
Subject: Clifton Camera Club donation
To whom it may concern,
I am writing to you to offer a number of items which I feel may be of interest / use to the Society or members of the Society.
A number of years ago I trained to be a photographer at University. However, recent health issues have forced me to reconsider my future and, as a result, I would like to donate the items on the attached list to a good home, where I believe they may be valued and used on a regular basis, rather than sat in a cupboard gathering dust, as they currently are. There may be other items which I will also want to donate at a future date as I am currently trying to review the contents of my home to see if they fit my future plans.
The only thing I would ask, if the offer of these items is accepted, is that they are collected by prior arrangement as I do not have access to a car and some of them are bulky and, in some cases, delicate.
If you are interested in any of the items on the attached list, please contact me either via this email address or by mobile phone on 07460 398289.
Thank you for your time and assistance in this matter.
Kind regards
Emma Jenkinson
