Ephesians 6:4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

FATHER'S #1 JOB

Another Father's Day is past. A pointed question or two remain. Questions real fathers need to ask themselves more than once. Questions people who care about fathers will ask them.

Are they getting what they need? Your children, especially the little ones, do they have what they need?

I'm not talking about good food and designer clothing -- such things, while nice, will only last so long, and can only carry them so far. I'm not talking about the baubles, the X Boxes, and computer games. They are fun but don't help much with real life. I'm not talking about friends and social activities, because friends can fail and people aren't always kind.

What I'm asking is: do they know Jesus? Do they really know Him by name personally from His Word? Is He a definite person they know to rely on or is He only part of a vague, fuzzy imagination? Do they know what great things He has done for them? Do they know what the future holds for them because of Christ?

We can give our children lots of fun things that don't last. We can also bring them to Jesus Christ who can give them a real future, one that won't fade away or wear out. Show them real love -- bring them to Jesus every day! Dad, that's job one.
