.”

- The Results of a Wrong Concept of Sin -

A wrong concept or understanding of what sin is, or a watered down concept of how sinful sin really is has devastating consequences

A wrong concept of sin produces:
  1. A Wrong Concept Of Salvation!
    There are aspects of the doctrine of salvation that I do not fully grasp, but I do understand this, salvation is first and foremost deliverance from the power and punishment of sin. Matthew 1:21 says, "Thou shalt call his name Jesus FOR HE SHALL SAVE HIS PEOPLE FROM THEIR SINS."
    The only way to correctly understand Bible salvation is to first understand the Bible concept of sin, the horrific sinfulness of sin. Man is so completely corrupted by sin that the only way to be saved is to be born again and receive a totally new heart and nature. Man's old heart/nature cannot be repaired, it must be regenerated.
  2. A Wrong Concept Of Evangelism!
    Any evangelism/soul winning endeavor that does not begin with the sinfulness of the heart of man is not true Biblical evangelism. Salvation is trusting Jesus as my Savior from SIN, not simply receiving Him as a friend or as some "ticket" to Heaven. Note: Jesus IS the friend of sinners and He DOES assure those who trust Him of Heaven, but He must first be recieved as my Savior from sin.
    The correct concept of evangelism begins with the Holiness of God and the sinfulness of man and then points sinful man to the Lord Jesus, the only one that can reconcile man with God.
    1 Timothy 1:15, "...Christ Jesus came into the world TO SAVE SINNERS..."
    There is no true, Biblical evangelism without the doctrine of sin and Hell.
    A clear understanding of the horrific sinfulness of sin opens the sinner's eyes to his need of a Savior from sin.
  3. A Wrong Concept Of God's Love!
    Until I see myself as a wretched sinner, lost, undone, and condemned to the Devil's Hell, I will never see the wonder and glory that God's love and mercy really has.
    Read Romans 5:6-11 very carefully, especially verse 8, "...but God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us..."
The love of God is greater far Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star, And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care, God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled, And pardoned from his sin.

On May 7, 1979, I trusted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, not to save me from Hell, but to forgive me and cleanse me of my sin! I learned later that in having my sins forgiven, I was also escaping Hell and gaining Heaven. How glorious is our God's salvation that delivers us from sin!!! Praise the Lord!!

We had an outstanding Sword of the Lord conference this past week!! Dr. Smith, Dr. Jenkins, and Dr. Sterling Walsh, Jr. had powerful messages. We praise the Lord for blessing our meeting in such a wonderful way.
