PRESS RELEASE, Tuesday 28 August 2012
Dutch Design at London Design FestivalA survey by Connecting the Dots |
||||
London is hosting the tenth London Design Festival in September 2012. On this occasion, Connecting the Dots will present twelve Dutch designers in Tent London from 20 to 23 September. Visitors to the design fair will receive the Connecting the Dots Magazine that is available at all of the Dutch presentations in London and informs the reader about Dutch Design.
The group presentation in Tent London shows the diversity that the Netherlands has to offer. For instance, there is the CMYK lamp that shines different colours from separate corners, a visually and conceptually strong design by Dennis Parren; the Bamboo Windsor Chair which recently won Bo Reudler the TIFF Award in Bangkok, and the latest project of Imme van der Haak, who has just graduated from the Royal College of Art in London. Jólan van der Wiel got off to a flying start with his Gravity Stool, in which epoxy mixed with metal particles is ‘pulled’ into capricious shapes by a powerful magnet. These are just a few examples of the established and new work that Connecting the Dots is presenting in Tent London from:
Anon&Co.
Tiago Sá da Costa Teun Fleskens Imme van der Haak Bathroom Mania Dennis Parren Bo Reudler The Cottage Industry Versaflex Systems Rik ten Velden Jólan van der Wiel Studio-Re-Creation A preview will be held in the BNO building in Amsterdam on Thursday 13 September with all the designers and design studios forming part of the Connecting the Dots presentation in London. The first exemplars of the magazine will be distributed on that occasion. Friday evening 21 September the project Beyond the Body of Imme van Haak comes alive. In a short live dance performance, the moving body manipulates the fabric so the body and the silk become one, the movement brings the fabric to life. Doors open 18.00, curtain at 19:00. Choreography: Alexandra Green. Dancers: Agnese Lanza and Anastasia Papaeleftheriadou.
Dutch brewer Gulpener will be inviting all the guests for a drink.
In conjunction with the Dutch Embassy in London, a network drinks session will be organised for the design industry represented there in the embassy building at Hyde Park Gate on Thursday 20 September. Connecting the Dots London 2012 is commissioned by Agentschap NL, a part of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation.
Connecting the Dots is held in Tent London, next to the entrance of SuperBrands: Shop 25 @ Tent London, Old Truman Brewery (street level) Hanbury Street 25, Londen E1 6QR.
