THE BIG DADDY HUMAN JUKEBOX TRIO! - This Saturday, March 5, I will be playing with my old friend Scott "Big Daddy" Gourley at the legendary Dutch Cottage Tavern in Skippack, PA. Big Daddy will be singing and playing his electronic drum kit and asking for song requests from the audience. Bassist Phil "Lay It Down" Lewandowski and I will try to keep up. FUN FACT - Did you know that Scott "Big Daddy" Gourley was one of my very first American friends when I came down in 1985 with my Canadian band One Life? It's true! My band and I had been on the road for months and we were living very hand-to-mouth. I was trying to book us a gig at the old Center Square Hotel and Scott was cooking in the kitchen. I was hungry but had no money so Scott traded me a hamburger for a cassette tape of my band and we've been friends ever since!
ROOT DOWN BREWING CO. NEWS - The Mighty Manatees (Randy, Kathleen, Tim, Dean, and I) play Root Down Brewing in Phoenixville, PA, on the first Sunday afternoon of every month. This Sunday afternoon, March 6, we return. Showtime is 3:00 -6:00 PM. Musical guests. Lisa Woodstock will be hosting our merchandise table.
But that's not all: Starting on Thursday, March 10, Randy Wagner, Tom Mussleman, and I will be bringing back our acoustic trio every second Thursday at Root Down Brewing from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. K-JO AND JOZO! - Due to health concerns, Mighty Manatees guitarist/vocalist Joe "Jozo" Rizzo has not performed with the band for four months. That is all about to change on Saturday, March 19, when Jozo returns to play with us at the fabled Bridgeport Rib House. Also joining us will be Mighty Manatees keyboardist Karl "K-Jo" Frick. MIKE GULDIN CD RELEASE PARTY! - Pennsylvanian blues champion Mike Guldin and I co-wrote a couple of songs for his new studio CD "Tumblin'". The album comes out this month and Mike has invited me to play at his CD Release Party on Friday, March 25. It takes place at The Sellersville Moose Lodge from 7:00 to 11:00 PM. AN EVENING WITH THE MIGHTY MANATEES - And speaking of Sellersville...Back in December we were booked to play The Sellersville Theater but had to cancel the show because the omicron variant was raging. That show has now been re-scheduled to Saturday, April 9. We're calling it "An Evening With The Mighty Manatees - Acoustic & Electric". We will not have an opening act this time.
