Manitou Springs has many ways to make winter pass quickly. Much like Mardi Gras, Carnivale is a yearly celebration in this little town, celebrated all day long. This year, it will happen on February 18, starting at 11 am with the Mumbo Jumbo Cook-off at Soda Springs Park.
The Mumbo Jumbo Cook-off is a contest between amateur chefs and professionals alike, all competing to cook the tastiest gumbo made in the Rocky Mountains. Tastings can be purchased for seventy-five cents from various chefs at the end of their morning's cooking.
At 1 pm, a parade of costumed revelers marches up Manitou Ave. from Memorial Park. Anyone may participate in the parade after registering with the Chamber.
