John 2:1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee...
JESUS' MINISTRY BEGINS!
The time had come! Now at about 30 years of age, the time had come for Jesus to begin His formal 3 year ministry. He had already been baptized; He had spent the 40 days in the wilderness being tempted by the devil; now it was time for Him to begin His work of proclaiming the Gospel to His people up until the time would come for Him to offer His life as the "Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world," as John the Baptist had identified Him (John 1:29).
The next day after John had thus spoken of Jesus, Andrew and John were there with John the Baptist. They followed Jesus, visiting with Him the rest of the day, inviting Philip and Nathanael to come and hear Him as well.
It was then on the third day that this wedding occurred, which will serve as our text for this week's devotions.
This season of Epiphany is all about revelations concerning Jesus. That is what the word "Epiphany" means--to reveal, to make manifest, to make known. In these weeks we thank the Lord for working in our hearts through His Word, strengthening our faith, as He carefully and lovingly reveals Himself as the Messiah, the Christ, the Son of God, the One who was to come for us to take away our sins!
