1 Corinthians 10:13 God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
BE FAITHFUL TO OUR FAITHFUL GOD (6)
Living as we do in a society as sinful and evil as was ancient Corinth, the temptations and trials for God's children are great. When tempted to be unfaithful to our faithful God, let us turn to the promises of His Word.
As Paul coped with a serious physical ailment, the God of heaven assured him: "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Foreseeing Peter's denial, the Savior told His disciple: "I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail" (Luke 22:32).
The risen and soon-ascending Lord assured His little band of witnesses: "Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:20).
As Moses assured his successor, Joshua, so are we assured: "He Himself has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you'" (Joshua 1:5, Hebrews 13:5).
Through the prophet, in any and every circumstance God assured His people: "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand" (Isaiah 41:10).
Though Peter fell, he repented and was restored, and later wrote: "...The God of all grace, who has called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen" (1 Peter 5:10-11).
Dear Christians, through any and every trial or trouble, God is there for us. Above all, when we sin, we can come back, knowing that the blood of His Son cleanses us from every sin. Praise the precious blood!
Jesus, lead Thou on Till our rest is won.
Heav'nly Leader, still direct us, Still support, control, protect us,
Till we safely stand In our fatherland.
(The Lutheran Hymnal, 410:4)
