Our speaker next week is an old friend of BPS, Peter Weaver LRPS APAGB CPAGB who will be presenting his talk My Kind of People. This is what Peter says about his talk:
When I started doing photography aged eleven, I took photographs of my family and I managed to avoid chopping off heads and getting the pictures sharp from the start. I have always enjoyed photographing people and my talk shows all kinds of people images-studio portraits, outdoor portraits, candids and events.
|
|
I particularly enjoy taking events and all kinds because it is a chance to photograph something different and most people do not mind their picture being taken. I do not do so much studio photography these days, but I would like to do more again. In studio work you have control. Tonight, you will see a very wide variety of people pictures.
Below are a couple of Peter's images from his talk: |

Only Mono – Print Battle – 6th April
As reported in the last newsletter, this battle was held last Saturday. Ralph, Mike and his wife ventured to Port Talbot to witness Colin Trow-Poole judge the contest. It was very close, but sadly a couple of our images didn’t quite appeal to him. Here’s our four images comprising our entry .
Unfortunately we published the wrong set of images last week, so here are the ones actually submitted:
The final result was that Bristol only managed SECOND place, having been beaten by Dorchester by one point. Still, we did walk away with the best Individual Image, “Survivor” by Barry Mead. We’ll just have to win the trophy back next year!

I have received the following from Simon Caplan - Well done:
I am really pleased to share the news that my series or panel of abstract images entitled ‘Dark Tissue’ has been awarded a nomination (equivalent to being shortlisted or accepted) in the amateur abstract photography category of the international Fine Art Photography Awards, based in New York (https://fineartphotoawards.com). The images were created by photographing crumpled and shaped white tissue paper on a light pad.

Salon acceptances: Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.

If you have any photographic items
for sale, drop me a line and I'll include it in the next newsletter.
Please make sure that you provide contact details, price and full
description of the sale items (pictures always help).
