1.
We're officially a week into summer, but we're not taking any time off. We have put away the winter music -- Schumann and Brahms chamber and piano music -- for lashings of bluegrass -- mostly Chris Thile and his wonderful band, Punch Brothers -- and our favorite album of the year thus far, "An Awesome Wave" by ∆, also known by their keystroke, Alt-j. Brilliant, intelligent, poetic, typographic, 21st-century pop. (Drawing letters and wrangling code is a time-intensive activity; it helps to have a little light relief.)

Right! Back to matters typographic... We've got two hot new releases to share from Greg Lindy in California, (where it's always summer,) and New Zealand's Kris Sowersby, (where it's actually winter. Go figure.)

2.
New Release: Colette / LuxTypo. / Greg Lindy / 2012

Greg Lindy has risen, phoenix-like, from years of client work and careful type design. First, he brought us the personable workhorse Gustan, and now we have his sweet and charming Colette. (Named after Greg's 4-year-old daughter, and devloped as a celebration of his fatherhood, Colette follows in the footsteps of another "daughter" face, Gerard Unger's lovely Flora.)

3.
New Release: Pitch / Klim / Kris Sowersby / 2012

Kris originally developed Pitch for his own communication, but was prodded into finishing the family and releasing it. Like the rest of Kris's work, Pitch is eminently usable and even-toned at text sizes, and quirky at larger sizes, where the angled serif brackets and beautiful curves shine.

Now showing: Village on Facebook

We have relented, and have created a profile for Village on The Face Book. Keep up with Village news and view great sightings on our page. You can also follow our tweetings on Twitter. (But please do not send us invitations to connect via Linked In. Enough's enough.)

5.
We're working hard to get new releases ready, including Francesca Bolognini's "Kina", Jeremy Mickel's "Fort", and Henrik Kubel's "Regular". Check back with us to see what we're up to. Oh, and look out for some web fonts soon too. We're just working on the back end of the site to handle the additional offerings.
