It is officially summer in Lexington, folks! We've moved on from warm weather into just plain sticky and hot. And you might think it's too hot to knit and crochet during these dog days of Summer, but you'd be wrong. Summer is a great time for smaller and lighter weight projects: socks, cotton tanks, linen shawls, or time to pick up a new yarn skill, like tapestry weaving.

We have so much going on at the shop this month from classes to an Emma's trunk show to the Heartland Yarn Adventure and Bluegrass Yarn & Fiber Crawl. Our shelves are filling up with new yarns for the fall and we are doing our best to make everything fit. We hope the heat doesn't keep you away, but if it does, you can always follow along on social media and start  planning your Fall fibery adventures.

Also, for those ready for the Fall Sweater Workshops, they are now open for registration on our site. The rest of our Fall schedule will go live on Friday, August 23.

New In The Shop

Noro Akari is a worsted weight, 26% Silk, 21% Cotton, 15% Viscose, 14% Mohair, 12% Wool, 12% Polyamide blend yarn that is the newest addition to our selection of Noro yarns. These 200g skiens contain a generous 528yds, enough for projects like the Aja Wrap by Andi Javori, Gusty by Laura Aylor, or the Shifting Shells scarf by Jenny King. We love the feel and drape of this fiber blend and can't wait to see what you create with it.

We would also like to welcome Vaya by Lang Yarns into our shop collection. This luxurious blend of 74% Cotton, 16% Extrafine Merino Wool, 10% Yak is the perfect summer treat for your hands. Vaya has a chain construction creating a light, fluffy dk weight yarn with 218yds in a 50g ball. We love this yarn for the Vaya Sweater by Lang Yarns, the Nebula Top by Andrea Mowry, the Classic Knitted Tank by Wannipa Yunker, or the River Cowl by Yumiko Alexander.

Nua Sport can be described in two words - cozy luxury. Its secret lies in its unique blend of 60% Merino, 20% Yak, and 20% Linen, designed with cables and textured stitches in mind. So if you’re looking for a rustic yarn with a luxurious colour palette to make your textured handknits ‘pop’, then Nua Sport is the yarn for you. It was harder for us to narrow down our pattern suggestions for this yarn, it would work great in so many of our favorite designs. We think it really shines in the Ostinato Cardi by Laura Aylor, the Blueprint top by Joan Forgione, the Bloom Hat by Gillian Harkness, and the Daisy Furrow shawl by PK Olson
July's Crazy Beautiful Color of the month from Emma's Yarns is big beautiful bursts of color, like fireworks, only better.

As usual, the color plays well with a huge variety of coordinating colors! Pictured here (top to bottom) with Love Drunk, Barbie Girls, Raindrops, Jackie O, After Dark, Trandy AF, Gnarley, and Salt Water Taffy.

Every month from May-August, Knitted Wit will release 4 new colorways inspired by National Parks areas, such as National Recreation Areas, Heritage sites, etc. For July we have (clockwise from top left) Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park, Cape Cod National Seashore, and Inupiat Heritage Center.

We have a few leftover hanks of the May and June colorways in case you missed out.

As usual, there is a Passport to track your parks purchases from us and other local yarn shops as you travel through the summer. At the end of the summer, there will be a commemorative patch for those with four filled squares and an enamel pin for those with all sixteen.

Ready to knit socks for the entire family? The 2024 holiday sock yarns have arrived!! This year we picked 5 colorways from West Yorkshire Spinners. From top left to right, we have Gingerbread, Candy Cane and Holly Berry in the regular sock base and Nutcracker and Fairy Lights in the sparkle base. These are self-patterning colorways so you will want to pick a pattern that lets the yarn do the work such as Mina's Vanilla Sock Recipe, the Hansel Mock Cable Knitted Sock, the Blitzen Socks, or the Swallow Hourglass Socks

Events at ReBelle

It's our favorite time of the year- time for the Emma's Yarn Trunk Show!! Y'all know we are deeply in love with the color and base yarn combos from Emma's Yarns and judging by your responses to the Super Silky and Marvelous Mohair we carry in the shop, you are too!

We are very excited to be hosting a two week trunk show during the Heartland Yarn Adventure featuring two of their yarns we don't currently carry- Hella Hanks and Simply Spectacular DK as well as a full color range of their Marvelous Mohair. We will have a ton of colors and samples to get you inspired. Time to start planning those fall shawls and sweaters!!

For the month of July (and part of August,) we will be doing Christmas in July for our Thursday knit along theme. Whether you are starting holiday gifts or working on holiday décor, all projects are welcome.  Each person will pick their own pattern that falls in the category of Christmas in July and we will knit/crochet them together.

Robyn created two Ravelry bundles here and here with several pattern ideas if you need some help finding the perfect pattern. She is also available if you need help finding a pattern for a particular yarn.

Every Thursday from July 11- August 15, 12-2pm via Zoom.
