1. Risky Mistakes Pet Owners Make
Overlooking Ticks Not recognizing ringworm Failure to deworm Failure to treat or prevent fleas Failure to spay/neuter Feeding errors: - Keeping food bowls full - Giving milk to cats - Feeding table scraps - Insufficient water - Worst mistake ever: trying to force a cat to be vegan Too little exercise Unable to read pets' body language Lack of attention, leaving a pet alone too long or too often Lack of adequate access to clean litter as well as water Failure to socialize pets while young Lack of rules Scolding pets for accidents, etc. Leaving kids unsupervised with any pet Allowing pets to eat spoiled food Inappropriate method of feeding bones (never feed cooked) Giving up a cat due to pregnancy Not having a disaster plan (See ccadrt.1hwy.com) Adopting on a whim: - not doing your homework first - failure to prepare for a new pet

Does your cat stare at you?
Guapo Tiny Buster
Cats, like humans and many species with vision as we know it, often use their eyes for communication in addition to simply looking around, navigating their space, and self-protection. Since it's typically regarded as threatening or intimidating to stare at a cat, we may misinterpret their staring at us as negative, too. But it's more likely they're just gazing at us because they love us.
Thanks to MJ Barnett Maguire for suggesting this topic.

More on Toxic Plants
On the list of plants that can kill your cat, this one is less known.
English Laurel in your yard or garden could be hazardous to your cat's health (and life).
Often used as a privacy hedge in yards, this shrub can be deadly to cats... and us! See https://homeguides.sfgate.com/poisonous-cherry-laurel-tree-67400.html
General information about the plant: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prunus_laurocerasus
For images of the plant for identification, simply do a search online for "English Laurel cyanide."
Thanks to Susan F. O'Donnell-Burke for suggesting this topic, published here with condolences on the loss of her precious kitty, Jewels, who was exposed to the toxicity of this plant in her own yard when it was cut down and released its deadly cyanide gas.
