Next Wednesday we have a double bill, we are being treated to a joint talk called A Walk on the Wild Side by our own Mary Pears CPAGB and Shaun Boycott-Taylor ARPS AFIAP DPAGB.
Shaun will be showing wildlife images that may never have been seen before, from countries such as Hungary, Catalonia (much in the news at present) and Romania, taking in the Danube Delta. Birds featured will include the Egyptian Vulture, Griffin Vulture, Little Bustard and the endangered Lammergeier.
Mary's talk will illustrate the passion she has had since childhood for the natural world and will include British wildlife subjects taken both in Bristol and in the local countryside around this area. She will also be showing images taken on several trips to Scotland.

Would those planning to go on the Beyond the Wall Group on Sunday 5 November, please note that this has now been moved to Sunday 12 November. The location is The Promenade in Clifton. Please meet at the bottom of the road where it meets Bridge Valley Road on Sunday, 12 November at 8.00am. There are no parking restrictions on Sundays and hopefully there will be only a couple of joggers and the occasional dog walker up at that time.

With bonfire night happening on Sunday night and firework displays being
held on any of the 3 nights over the weekend, many club members may be
tempted to try their hand at photographing the events. Jeff Hargreaves
sent an article (that he found in the Canon magazine) on just this subject to
members of the photography course, but I thought that maybe some of our club members might also want to take advantage of this. So, if you'd
like to download the article, which is fairly comprehensive, you can do
so by following this link. |

Following the recent items in the newsletter about Nik software and the fact that Google (the owners) had announced that there would be no further updates or support for the program: it would appear that the on-line petition may have had some effect because Google have now sold the program to a company called DxO. The new owners have stated that they have plans to continue to develop the Collection for the benefit of the photographic community. You can find out more by clicking here. |

ITS NOT PARTICULARLY EASY FINDING "DATES FOR YOUR DIARY", SO I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT IF MEMBERS COULD LET ME KNOW OF ANY EVENTS, EXHIBITIONS OR PICTURE LOCATIONS THAT THEY THINK WOULD BE OF INTEREST. DATES AND WEB LINKS WOULD HELP

Salon acceptances: BPS photographers are now achieving large numbers of salon acceptances and constraints on time and space mean we can't include them all. So please only advise of awards or other milestones.
Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.

Would all members please note: before you plan your shoot and book your model, you should check whether the studio/clubroom will be free.
