2 Corinthians 3:18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory.
HELP ME EVERY DAY TO BE
Where in the world is Jesus? Lots of people have tried to find Him in lots of different places. Some in the realm of nature. Some in their own hearts. The Bible teaches that Jesus can be found is only one place: His Word. When we read His Word at home or hear it preached at church, the Savior is there, though it be only a tiny group of two or three assembled in His name.
We're glad to know Jesus is present in His Word because when we see Him there (with eyes of faith), we see the great things He has done for us. We see the compassion which moved Him to give His life a ransom for us. We see the robe of holiness that He purchased for us by His atoning death, which God has credited to us by faith. We're also glad to know Jesus is present in His Word because we know He uses it to keep our faith powered up and energized, and to transform us more and more into His likeness, that we might show forth His praise in our daily walk of life.
We know that this side of heaven we'll never be completely like Jesus. Still, this is the goal towards which we strive. We look forward to the Day when we shall see Him face to face and worship Him in the beauty of pristine holiness through endless ages.
Grant us grace to see Thee, Lord, Mirrored in Thy holy Word;
May we imitate Thee now And be pure as pure art Thou
That we like to Thee may be At Thy great Epiphany
And may praise Thee, ever blest, God in man made manifest.
(The Lutheran Hymnal, 134:5)
