Although your handbook shows the DI Group meeting as being Monday 14 March the website had (until today) contained a mistake in that it showed the next meeting as being on 7 March. This has now been corrected and the right date is the 14th, so you have plenty of time to get any images together to bring along on the night.

Colin Hajee has kindly agreed to take on the task of running the
“Beyond the Wall Group" from Judith Richley who unfortunately has had to take a
back seat. For those of you who were not aware of his existence, Colin (or Col as
he likes to be known) has been a member of the BPS for approximately 13 years. He
has helped with the Photography Course for the last 12 years and is
probably best known for his portraiture work and in particular his love of studio
photography. However, he has a keen interest in a wide range of photographic
subjects and has been lucky enough to travel to many countries throughout the
world with his trusty camera.
Col proposes to kick the group off in true tradition with a meeting in
a pub! The initial meeting will be used to ascertain the members'
expectations of the group and to discuss possible activities / locations for
shoots etc.. Although the group is aimed at encouraging the newer members of
the BPS to expand their photography and/or photo editing skills, the group is
open to all members who would like to be involved.
Colin proposes to arrange the initial meeting shortly in a pub,
possibly in Clifton village, but probably need to have a chat with a couple of
previous group members first to decide on the best venue etc.. The best way to
arrange the meeting will be via an e-mail group, therefore all members who would
like to join the group or be kept informed of developments should e-mail Col
at btw@bristolphoto.org.uk so that he can
add you to the mail group and so keep you posted of forthcoming meetings, projects
etc.

24 Hours in Bristol 2016 – Midday Saturday 16th to midday Sunday 17th April. One day in the life of one extraordinary city, captured hour by hour …. for ever.. Now in its fourth year Bristol’s unique photographic competition challenges both professional and amateur photographers to capture the essence of one day in the life in Britain’s most vibrant and photogenic city. In an interesting twist on other photographic competitions, entrants are randomly allocated a specific hour of the day or night during which they must take at least one entry photograph. This gives entrants an added challenge and ensures excellent hour-by-hour coverage of one day in the city. For more information and to enter this year’s competition visit their website. |
Sorry, I put the wrong link in here last week, thanks to eagle eyed Ashwin for spotting the mistake. I have left this link in the newsletter for any members who need some sort of explanation to the world of photographic acronyms. If you aren't sure what MPAGB, EFIAP/s and many more such seemingly random collections of letters mean, just click here to download the list. |

Well done to Richard Kay on gaining his LRPS (for those of you who haven't a clue what an LRPS is, see the item above about Acronyms).
Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.
