Hello Firstname
Sorry for the late arrival of this week's newsletter, but I am afraid the fine weather got in between me and the keyboard!

Wednesday 12 April
Next Wednesday we have the annual visit from the Southampton International Exhibition. We will be welcoming Sue Sibley ARPS CPAGB EFIAP, the Exhibition Chairman, who will show a selection of the accepted prints from this year. If last year's presentation is anything to go by, we can expect a visual treat accompanied by Sue's expert commentary.

Monday 10 April
Next Monday is the monthly meeting of the Digital Imaging Group. As usual all members are welcome, even more so if you bring along pictures, either for general discussion or just to show off what you've been up to lately. Pictures can be either prints or projected images (these should be saved as jpegs on a USB memory stick).
An added incentive is the fact that Ashwin will no doubt be bringing along his usual selection of chocolate biscuits.

A Plea For Sponsorship
I have received the following from one of our members, Harry Bowden.
My fiancee's grandson is dying of cancer - he's just 7 years old. He has 'Stage 4 neuroblastoma' which is only diagnosed in around 100 children each year. Chemotherapy has failed to stop the cancer and he probably has just months to live.
On the 22nd April a group of fourteen people are going to cycle from Bristol to Swindon (some 47 miles) to raise money for the charity https://www.neuroblastoma.org.uk/ and I am asking if anyone is able to sponsor me. It does not matter how small the donation may be, every penny will go toward research into this vile disease. Perhaps, if an effective treatment can be found it may prevent other children and their parents having to go through this Hell.
If you are able to help, I will be so grateful.
Thank you
Harry Bowden
If you can support Harry, please contact him by email, henrybowden56@gmail.com, or collar him at next Wednesday's meeting - he's the big, bearded one who sits towards the back on the coffee area side.

Mobile Phones
Would members please remember that mobile phones should be switched to silent during meetings (or preferably switched off) and that texting, checking messages or otherwise playing with your phone should be resisted, especially during projected image evenings - the brightly lit  phone screens can be very distracting and annoying to those nearby.

ITS NOT PARTICULARLY EASY FINDING "DATES FOR YOUR DIARY", SO I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT IF MEMBERS COULD LET ME KNOW OF ANY EVENTS, EXHIBITIONS OR PICTURE LOCATIONS THAT THEY THINK WOULD BE OF INTEREST. DATES AND WEB LINKS WOULD HELP.

Trumpet Blowers' Corner
Following last weeks mention of Barry Mead gaining acceptances in this year's WCPF Members' Exhibition, Patsy Southwell had 3 acceptances - well done.

Salon acceptances: BPS photographers are now achieving large numbers of salon acceptances and constraints on time and space mean we can't include them all. So please only advise of awards or other milestones.

Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.
