Forming in Leeds in early 2013, Autobahn blew audiences across the North away with one of the most intense and visceral live shows in recent years. Encapsulating the landscape of their Yorkshire home, their sound soars from the harsh post-industrial concrete of the city right through to the endless Pennine expanses on its periphery. Following the release of two self-titled EPs, AUTOBAHN released their debut album, Dissemble, on August 2015 via Tough Love (recorded with Matt Peel). The band built their own studio in Leeds to record their second album ‘The Moral Crossing’ which will be released on November 3rd. 2017.

To celebrate the release of her debut solo album, The Widowed Earth, The Underground Scene presents Dos Floris live in a series of dates across the UK in November (2017) and April (2018)
Dos Floris is a multi-Instrumentalist, singer, songwriter & producer who creates and performs genre defying electronic-acoustic music that results in emotional, unique cinematic soundscapes.
Born to a Dutch mother and English father in London, she has been compared to Bjork, Kate Bush, Zola Jesus, Sigur Ros and Radiohead and her music described as “the sound of heaven”, “elegant and addictive” and a “flowing magical bewitching journey”.
Using her voice, a looper, conventional instruments [piano, flute, synths, guitar] and home made contraptions [a stringed walking stick] she performs her live shows alone building up hypnotic soundscapes onto which she sings of nature, war, lonliness, love, escape and silence.
The Widowed Earth, her debut solo album, is due for release on the 17th October 2017.
“A Bravura one woman show” The Huffington Post UK
“I had goosebumps for most of it”, “I felt like I was floating in space” and “bloody brilliant”
Anna, Jonathan, Emma & Chris- Dos Floris Gig Goers
Dos Floris will be supported by Orlando Seale. If you enjoy the music of Orlando Seale then you’ll love this music by Orlando Seale. For this Lexington show the real Orlando Seale is preparing a new piece, featuring the old Orlando Seale, possibly by himself, maybe not.
This will be the first outing of his new solo work in progress ‘Brace! Brace!’ Recent shows with his band HARPO SMITH include playing at Scala and Abbey Road. Orlando is currently recording new material.

The Lexington Pop Quiz with quizmaster Paul Guided Missile

with top of the pops quizmaster Paul Guided Missile

When: 13/11/2017 08:00 pm
Location: Downstairs

The all-new but very familiar quiz! Now called The Lexington Pop Quiz. Still hosted by Paul Guided Missile. Now £2 entry person. Now with top prize of £60, second prize round of drinks, multi-pack of crisps for best team name.

Name that tune, identify the popstar, answer the headfuck question, spot the intro – multiple rounds of pop-related trivia questions presented by exceedingly entertaining quizmaster Paul Guided Missile. Book tables at 7pm (or earlier) for up to six players per team. Email info@thelexington.co.uk to book (no charge apart from the £2 per person quiz charge…)

“The best pop quiz in town” – Pub Quizzers

“It’s far from serious stuff as the potty-mouthed quizmaster guides you through some pretty silly rounds, including one based on Bob Holness’s ‘Blockbusters’. A multipack of crisps goes to the team with the best name, as judged by a ‘clapometer’.! – Time Out ‘London’s Ten Best Pub Quizzes’.

“Die-hard musos will love The Lexington’s effort, in conjunction with Rough Trade Records, with rounds such as Badly Drawing Boy, in which teams guess the LP sleeve from a kiddy’s scrawl.” – British Airways” High Life magazine.

“I was really expecting it to be damn tough, but it was definitely accessible to all levels of music knowledge (the first question was to name just onemember of JLS – no, we didn’t get it)……….
Here’s a couple of questions that I can remember – What was Bob Marley’s middle name? Nesta (we got that one)
What was the name of Tele Sevales’ big hit in the 70s? If (we didn’t get that one). In the picture round there was a picture of two toilets as a cryptic clue to an artist – who was it? Lulu, of course (got that one too). Lots of fun … and the host is quite the wit.” – “I ♥ MUSIQUE

“Paul is a London legend” – Billy Reeves, BBC London 94.9

“This one is big. Really big… ” – Qype

“Quizmaster Paul is halfway through a bravura performance of Bat Out Of Hell on his Bontempi keyboard. I look around and a good 60 per cent of the assembled audience is literally weeping with laughter. This is without doubt the best pub quiz of all time” – Jude Georges, ‘Twee’ fanzine

“Some Northern bloke hosts it and for one round plays pop hits on a Bontempi organ.. everyone laughs their heads of when they realise the plinky plonk bossanova tune he’s playing is actually Anarchy In the UK or something, then he looks up completely straight faced and says ‘OK, so 2 points if you can guess that one.’ Haha…” –
Tripadviser review of The Lexington

“That was a thoroughly exciting Rough Trade pub quiz. Our team won a round of shots and @paulgmissile called an unfunny heckler a c*nt” – Chris Monk, Twitter

SIX EXCITING ROUNDS, always finishing off with the slightly rubbish live music round!

PRIZES to be won each week include £60 cash, drinks and multi-pack of crips for the best team name!

Guaranteed the best way to kick off the week.. and with added beer!

Support comes from Feral Five.

Koen Van De Wardt records ethereal, oft-hushed but forever gripping synth-anchored music under the moniker Klangstof that’s a collage of supremely genteel yet haunting vocals, sleek melodies and experimental beats and rhythms.

“‘Hostage’ by Klangstof sounds like the more shimmering moments of pre-bloopy Radiohead, if they had aligned themselves with the production tendencies of Abel Tesfaye and the soaring beauty of all those Sigor Ros moments that make nature programmes so atmospheric.” NME MATT WILKINSON

HAWK combine an abrasive edge with celestial vocals, to create a driving, expansive sound, with activism at its core.

HAWK have been compared to Warpaint and The Cranberries with hints of Slow Dive and Radiohead. Their music covers subjects like inequality, exclusion, gender-preconceptions and generalisations faced by different social groups every day. Their acute social awareness is a trait that the band hold dear conveying their message with beauty and grace, with triggering, dreamlike soundscapes to mirror the inequalities they witness in everyday life.

HAWK formed in London in 2014, where they formed their label, Veta Records. The band relocated to Berlin in 2016 where they are still friends after a winter living under one roof.

Amongst the band’s supporters are Noisey, Stereogum, Clash, The Line of Best Fit and Amazing Radio, who have all commented on HAWK’s dynamic sound and compelling subject matters.

New single ‘Below’ is out now on Spotify🔺

Signing his record deal with XMR on William Blake’s grave, it’s fair to say Saint Leonard’s Horses is an enigma. Having played with the likes of Billy Bragg, Beck, Bob Dylan, Father John Misty and Ryan Adams, he’s also recorded his debut album Good Luck Everybody within Stanley Kubrick’s estate, having written songs inspired by retreats into the Mojave Desert, a cabin in Nashville and a gothic church on the Yorkshire moors. Leonard himself has plenty of experiences to relay to everybody, as he invites them into his world whether at cinematic live shows or through the aural jigsaw of his album.

When: 24/11/2017 08:00 pm
Location: Upstairs

Price: £adv £10
Ticket Link: http://www.punkrockblues.co.uk/king-salami.html

This is London’s greatest and most sensational Rhythm’n’Blues-Punk band. And this is a band that truly represents London, being a mongrel mix of Caribbean, France, Japan and Spain. With a repertoire influenced by many of the great songs of the ’50s and ’60s made to sound fresh and new to modern ears, you won’t be able to help but move your feet when the Cumberland Three are blasting out of your speakers. The Cumberland Three (former members of punk rock bands, including The Parkinsons) rock up a storm with their own branded mix of vintage rockabilly, desperate rock’n’roll and stomping soul, with fire, energy, gusto and, above all, fun!

Equal parts rock’n ‘roll and soul, with a healthy dose of blues and rockabilly and a good bit of punk rock attitude, whether you’re at a club show or in your living room you won’t be able to help yourself from shakin’ and shimmyin’. You can bet your bacon that they’re gonna be cookin’ up a party at your house too!

Mammoth Penguins & Friends

Mammoth Penguins bring their new album “John Doe” to London, which tells the story of the people who were close to a man who has faked his own death, only to return years later.

Mammoth Penguins formed in Cambridge in 2013. They released their debut album Hide & Seek in 2015 on the late great Fortuna Pop! label, putting them in the excellent company of bands such as Martha, Comet Gain and Chorusgirl. After playing shows across the U.K. and Germany, and a live session for Marc Riley’s BBC 6 Music radio show, the band hatched a plan to work with other musicians on a side project. This side project became the John Doe album

Mega Emotion

Norwich trio Mega Emotion is made up of Iain on guitar, Lisa and Jan on keyboards, all of them sing and play drums/percussion over electronic beats. Iain describes their sound as “an alternative soundtrack to the film Tron.”

Since forming, Mega Emotion have won Steve Lamacq’s Roundtable new music selection on BBC 6 Music, seen their demo material play-listed as a 6 Music Recommends track of the week, and been championed on Radio X / XFM and by BBC Introducing.

Deerful

Deerful is Emma Winston, a keyboard player, singer and producer based in London. She writes lush, sad, romantic electropop about feelings on synthesisers small enough to use on the bus.

Her self-engineered and produced debut album, Peach, is a bold and ambitious 11 track debut long player, released less than two years after writing her first song. Peach is an album about affirming the ordinary and vital, about the everyday things that provide comfort to you in difficult times, and about finding your own way to push back against the expectations that constrain you. It traces a narrative of moments of contact between people, especially between women, and above all celebrates the small moments that make up a life.

Sleep Party People join us at the Lexington!

For the last 2 and a half years Sleep Party People has been touring all over Europe and Asia in support of their last album. The countless live shows has inspired Sleep Party People to focus on a more organic sound than before including the live band in the recordings.

In the summer 2017 Sleep Party People will return with new music. The new album ‘Lingering’ will be out through Joyful Noise Recordings. Releasing albums in 2010, 2012 and 2014 Sleep Party People has gained attention of fans worldwide with 80.000 followers on Facebook. Two different versions of the song “I’m Not Human at All” has reached more than 6 million views combined. Having previously mainly toured in Europe and Asia 2017 marks the year where Sleep Party People will give increased focus to the many fans in USA, Mexico and South America.

Sleep Party People is the brainchild of Brian Batz, a Danish multi-instrumentalist with a boundless imagination.

“As a sonic architect, Batz proves to be something close to a Genius … Wonderful” – The Sunday Times.

Taking as inspiration the work of Boards Of Canada, David Lynch and Erik Satie, Batz found the sound of the old battered piano in his apartment, coupled with a freaky electronic alteration of his recorded voice, created an eerie, hypnotic sound often labeled as Dream Pop.

Location: Upstairs

Price: £adv £7.50, on sale Fri 21st July

As far as formation myths go, Childcare’s probably takes the biscuit. Ringleader Ed Cares works as a nanny for his day job, and airings of potential material – by way of humming a few melodies – caught the attention of some of the kids he cares for, and they encouraged him to start a band. To quote one early reviewer (Josh, aged eight) “you’re probably my second favourite artist after Katy Perry.”

With a new EP, ‘Made Simple’ out now, ‘Dust’ is an angular first taste; a bleakly witty take on seizing the day. Do whatever you like, is the basic gist, cos “soon we’ll all be dust”. There you go, then. (El Hunt) – DIY MAG

Nelson Can, Albert Af Ekenstam, Hajk

Ja Ja Ja & Rockfeedback Proudly Present

Price: £adv £7, adv mems £5
Ticket Link: https://billetto.co.uk/e/ja-ja-ja-x-rockfeedback-nelson-can-albert-af-ekenstam-hajk-tickets-234098

NELSON CAN | DENMARK
Nelson Can started out as a lie – there was no band – it was just a dream. ‘We just really wanted to tell people that we had a band, and so we did. Now we actually have a band and it is just as amazing as we had imagined it would be.’ Nelson Can operate with several dogmas and a very noticeable one is that the band use no guitars. Their sound is original and “to-the-bone” simple, inspired by acts like The White Stripes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Siouxsie and the Banshees. The set-up with only drums and bass creates the perfect framework for the simple, yet very powerful melodic dogma rock sound.

ALBERT AF EKENSTAM | SWEDEN
Like, say, Elliot Smith (rest in peace) and Damien Jurado, Albert is a very brave and straightforward singer- songwriter. His melodies and lyrics are like uncensored and infinitely beautiful letters – without euphemisms and false chords they let you know what’s on his mind. At the same time they’re universal – if you’ve loved and lost you can relate to them. They also start your internal movie projector. With “Ashes” on the stereo and with eyes closed memory fragments, glowing emotions and pure dreams fly through your soul. That Filip’s production (which you’ve heard on Anna von Hausswolff’s two latest albums) is both intimate and grand at the same time makes this personal cinematic experience even more sensational.

HAJK | NORWAY
Hajk’s first song, «Common Sense», was listed by Norwegian radio stations almost before the band got of our their rehearsal space, and the album «Magazine», which was released in early autumn 2017, got a great reception by international media. In the US, «Noisey» picked up the single straight away, and this blazed the trail for the band over there. In England, «Indie Shuffle» was quick off the mark. Sweden also liked Hajk’s consistent pop music, and «Svenska Dagbladet» called «Magazine» one of the best, new songs that autumn. The bands debut album has gotten great reviews in Scandinavia, Germany, UK, US and beyond. The band are influenced by artists like Dirty Projectors, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Amason, but still they stand firmly on their own feet, with an original sound that also challenges the genre they belong to.

Sweet Baboo

Eat Your Own Ears presents

When: 06/12/2017 08:00 pm
Location: Upstairs

Price: £adv £13.50
Ticket Link: http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/event/287803

Sweet Baboo is Stephen Black, a native of the north Wales countryside and a single-minded, idiosyncratic singer. Black possesses an ear for a sparkling melody, a restless soul, and a gift for a deft lyrical turn – from darkly funny to piercingly tender, twinklingly boastful to deliciously self-deprecating.

Sweet Baboo’s third album, I’m a Dancer/Songs About Sleeping, was nominated for the inaugural Welsh Music Prize in 2011, a year which also saw the release of his EP, Girl Under A Tree. Influenced by fond musical favourites, The Beach Boys, Daniel Johnston and Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci, Girl Under A Tree tells tales of girls, loss, adventure and drinking.

Over the last few years, Sweet Baboo has played at Latitude, Green Man Festival, SXSW and The Camden Crawl, as well as touring Germany with Johnny Flynn and the UK with Islet and Slow Club. He has also been invited to record sessions for BBC 6 Music’s Marc Riley, Huw Stephens and Stuart Maconie. Notably, Black’s song How I’d Live My Life (AKA The Bumblebee Song) is the soundtrack to a series of TV spots for the Visit Wales tourist board campaign.

Black’s productivity is all the more remarkable given his extra-curricular activities which have seen him working with an ever-growing array of musicians. Black has played on albums by Cate Le Bon, Slow Club and H. Hawkline, and has been a regular part of the touring line-up for all three bands. He has also performed with and produced Euros Childs, The Pictish Trail, The Voluntary Butler Scheme, Islet and Spencer McGarry Season and collaborated onstage and in the studio with Gruff Rhys. 2012 saw Sweet Baboo set off on a world tour as part of Slow Club’s live band as well as a North American and UK tour in Cate Le Bon’s touring band.

In between world tours, Black found time to record his fourth full-length album, a concept album about the sea which is tentatively titled Ships, with long time collaborator The Voluntary Butler Scheme. The latest instalment in the Sweet Baboo saga sees Black indulge in his love of super brass-heavy pop and is due for release in 2013.

Artificial Pleasure

AEG Live presents

When: 12/12/2017 07:30 pm
Location: Upstairs

Price: £adv £10

Artificial Pleasure are a London-based quartet formed in early 2016. The band consists of Phil McDonnell (vocals, guitars), Dom Brennan (synths), Lee Jordan (drums) and Rich Zbaraski (bass) joining the line-up.

Following their first release at the end of 2016, the band kick off 2017 as one of NME’s Top 10 Artists to watch, calling their music “irresistible funk-punk with thrusting sleazy grooves.” The Guardian called them “supercharged pop” while Stereogum said they were “a versatile outfit that tie many different influences and genres into tight, hypnotic knots.”

Working previously as Night Engine, the band assumed the new name following line-up changes and a renewed focus in their sound. The music has subtly shifted, crystallising into something altogether bolder and tougher.

The tracks find their roots in childhoods spent listening to Atlantic Soul, with an adolescence firmly shaped by the energy of Talking Heads, Iggy Pop, Joy Division, The Velvet Undergroun

Wooden Arms

Disorder presents

When: 16/12/2017 07:45 pm
Location: Upstairs

Price: £adv £8
Ticket Link: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/410503

Wooden Arms are a contemporary quintet from the UK who draw from Trip-hop, Classical, and Alternative music.

“Wooden Arms have emerged with a brooding and delicate classical-folk song that is smothered in subtlety, tension and lush reverb.” – The 405
“The band mix delicate piano with luscious strings and trip-hop inspired percussion to create something quite beautiful.” – Tom Robinson (BBC6 Music)
“(Chariclia) A most beautiful piece of music… Somewhat reminiscent of a Winged Victory for the Sullen with that sort of emotion and tone to it… Absolutely bewitching.” – Simon Raymonde (Bella Union)

In the Autumn of 2014 they released their debut album “Tide” on Butterfly Collectors and subsequently toured Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland, and the UK. They were featured repeatedly on BBC radio 1, 2, 3, and 6 including a live performance on Lauren Laverne’s show.

Wooden Arms as of yet untitled sophomore record marks a change in sonic texture from their first album “Tide.” An expansion in sound without an expansion in members.

The sound is markedly more contemporary and moves away from the classical chamber music of the first album. Enthused with the rhythmic sensibilities of Portishead, blended with the ethereal melodies of Sigur Ros. Wooden Arms instrumentation has grown to include more electronic and modern elements and shakes off the shackles of Folk music imbued on the first record.

JOANNE JOANNE
Famously ‘fusing the Sex Pistols with Chic’ (!), Joanne Joanne – five London based female musicians (including, too perfectly, two Joannes) – conceptually align themselves with Duran’s classic
1981/ 1982 oeuvre, performing faithfully – and exclusively – songs from that period, out of love – and as Nick Rhodes might have once quipped ‘for aesthetic reasons’.

They ‘don’t do Rio’.
But they do do the Night Versions.

“Knifeworld have mined the hairline crack between genius and madness and found sonic gold”
LOUDER THAN WAR

“Explosions of intricate melodies, twisting sometimes angular time changes and blatant sense of adventure. It’s challenging but wholly worthwhile”
CLASSIC ROCK PRESENTS PROG

“Buried Alone is equal parts jumbo choruses, gossamer harmonies, tungsten riffs and psychotic timings…these songs rub unabashedly pretty, richly layered pop up against impossibly intricate structural madness”
ROCK-A-ROLLA

“An album that fires off an awe-inspiring barrage of musical styles”
ROCK SOUND

“Heavy, huge, fucking guitars bludgeon you one second, before vocal harmonies take you by the hand and lead you towards somewhere else entirely…a steely conviction in its own strangeness and a scabrous pop sensibility that winds throughout. This album is coming from a place way, way through the looking glass.”
DROWNED IN SOUND

“This album is so utterly grand that each time you listen to it another realm of serenity emerges”
GLASGOW PODCART

“Buried Alone: Tales of Crushing Defeat should establish Torabi as one of the most ingenious songwriters around today…

“When I was first told about Duds, it came with the considered opinion that the guys were far from what you’d call ‘careerists’.
“They don’t take themselves too seriously” was another comment. I could have taken this as a warning that they weren’t in to for the right reasons – but that couldn’t be further from the truth. From my perspective Duds simply won’t bend over backwards to ‘get on’. They do what they do and you can take it or leave it. I took it – with both hands… with a vice-like grip. They have the invention and urgency of Edinburgh Legends The Fire Engine’s. The Post-Punk ethic. Short songs, short sets = short album.
They’re one of the most thrilling bands I’ve seen in years – and the fact that they’re releasing this brilliant piece of work on the Castleface label adds the last piece of a perfect ‘outsider’ jigsaw puzzle. Duds sitting alongside Oh Sees, Ty Segall, White Fence, Useless Eaters et al. THERE IS A GOD!”

– Marc Riley JUNE 2017

‘You kind of know where you are (in a good way) with a band name like Duds, self-effacing in the the way only the British can be. Lacking even the qualification of the definite article! Musically they don’t disappoint either. Lead-off track ‘No Remark’ from their latest EP Wet Reduction has an element to it that doesn’t quite qualify as music (in all the right ways) a bit atonal, in some rhythm that’s not 4/4 but is somehow some kind of pop from another dimension.’

– Colin Newman (Wire)

Trudy And The Romance

Somewhere among the daydreamers and heartbreakers, beauty queens and jock teens, Trudy and the Romance are looking to lure you into their suitably skewed, cinematic world. On new single ‘Is There A Place I Can Go’, the trio’s dubbed ‘Mutant 50s Pop’ takes a more contemplative turn. The single is part of their Junkyard Jazz EP, which will be released through B3SCI on November the 17th.

From character creation to alter-ego exploration, Trudy’s overtly-romanticised, technicolour realm runs deep. Like David Lynch dicing and splicing Walt Disney film reels, Junkyard Jazz EP is a larger-than-life introduction to their saccharine sound, right through to the Grease-style illustrations by LA-based artist Hello Thunderpuss.

The Just Joans

Fika Recordings present

When: 03/02/2018 08:00 pm
Location: Upstairs

Price: ££8
Ticket Link: http://www.wegottickets.com/fikarecordings

Formed in Glasgow in 2005, The Just Joans have evolved from a shambling two-piece to an accomplished sextet that embraces rivalry and relationship in the vocals of siblings, David and Katie Pope.

Once described as ‘the missing link between The Magnetic Fields and The Proclaimers’, the band have used self-awareness and self-deprecation to continuously explore themes of angst, heartbreak and detachment in their songs.

The band are excited to release You Might Be Smiling Now…, a self-recorded and produced collection of new songs. The release offers more of the same cynicism, but from an older if not necessarily wiser perspective as evidenced on lead single No Longer Young Enough and You Make Me Physically Sick (Let’s Start Having Children) is a jaundiced slice of toybox pop that crosses The Human League and Harold Steptoe.

Complementing this shift in tone comes a more polished electronic sound on tracks A Matter of Time and Someone Else That You Like More Than Me while O’ Caledonia sails along at a blistering pace like no Just Joans lament before it.

Josh Kelley, Frankie Davies

Livenation presents

When: 04/02/2018 07:30 pm
Location: Upstairs

Price: £adv £18 - on sale Wed 09 Aug 2017 09:00 AM
Ticket Link: https://www.livenation.co.uk/artist/josh-kelley-tickets?omq=josh%20kelley

After spending the majority of the past decade as a successful pop and adult contemporary artist, Josh Kelley returns to the Southern sound he’s loved since childhood with his upcoming MCA Nashville country release. While it may be his official debut into the country genre, Josh’s previous hits, have always contained discernible country flair.

“This record is a time capsule. It’s by far the best thing I’ve written and I’ve never been more proud,” revealed Josh, who wrote or co-wrote each of the album’s eleven songs.
“I’m finally in a genre where I can write lyrics, tell stories and be a man.”

It’s evident that this latest project is very much autobiographical, having gotten married, moved and adopted a baby girl all in the past two years. These events created the album and the stories he tells in it.

“My life has completely changed. My wife is a very strong independent woman, she allows me my own independence and from the first time my baby girl brushed her hand against my face, my life was changed. This album reflects those changes.”

Josh’s MCA Nashville project not only showcases his talents as a singer and songwriter, but reveals him to be the latest definition of a true renaissance man; a man who’s confident enough within his own skin to reveal a new take on sentimental themes by employing thoughtful lyrics.

“Georgia Clay”, the project’s lead single, recalls the carefree summers of Josh’s youth, when he and his brothers would hitch up jet skis to their Dad’s ’77 Chevy Silverado and head down to the lake. The memories made those summers are engrained their lives, as well as the tires of that old truck.

“The whole idea behind “Georgia Clay” is that we could go back to the garage and look at that truck, which hadn’t been driven in years, and still find layers of mud stuck to the tires. That is the mud from our childhood, those memories are still there.”

With a modern country feel Josh recalls his life experiences with songs like “Great Idea”, “Ain’t Letting Go”, “Two Cups of Coffee” and “Gone Like That”. Each of these songs embrace the familiarity of times gone by, not by idealizing the past, but by presenting unique lessons learned from it.

“Gone Like That” isn’t the typical she’s gone and I don’t care take on a one night stand, it explores an unapologetically sensitive man who keeps running into what could be the woman of his dreams.

“This was the song that actually started my journey into country music. I had written and presented it to my music publisher to pitch to other artists, but they liked my demo so much they encouraged me to cut it. It was the first song I wrote that gave me the confidence to pursue a career as a country singer.”

The sentimental and emotionally charged “Naleigh Moon”, a song written for and about his beloved baby girl, dives deep into the intense connection between a father and his daughter.

“We’d only had Naleigh for a couple of weeks when I wrote this and I think it’s the best song I’ve ever written. The way the chords and the melody intertwine, it really tugs on your heartstrings. When I sang that song in the studio, I really meant it.”

Not leaving the drinkin’ & carousin’ songs entirely to his contemporaries, Josh offers up “Raining Whiskey”, a get the party started tune that’s destine to be added to every jukebox and honky tonk across the country. Referencing the song’s lyrics, It’s hard staying dry when it’s raining whiskey, Josh laughed, “That’s my favorite forecast.”

As a kid growing up in Augusta, Georgia, Josh experienced both city life and country living; thanks to his family owning a bit of farmland near their home.

“We grew up half our lives on a farm up in the North Georgia Mountains,” said Josh. “Summers were spent bush hoggin’ acres of land and life in Augusta was all about golf and music. We had the best of both worlds. There was the fun of city life, plus we got to experience the beauty of the country,” Josh continued.

The first record Josh remembers buying was U2’s Joshua Tree, but early on he was exposed to a wide range of musical styles.

“It depended on whose car I was in,” said Josh. “If it was my Mom’s car, it was Doobie Brothers, Luther Vandross, Michael McDonald. If I was with my older brother John, it was Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Supertramp. With Dad it was all country all the time.”

During his early teens Josh and younger brother Charles (of Lady Antebellum fame) decided to form the band Inside Blue, with Charles on drums and lead vocals and Josh on electric guitar.

Inside Blue released a maxi cd with five tracks which were played on local radio and eventually caught the attention of The Godfather of Soul, James Brown, and his manager, who wanted to sign them.

“He loved our songs, but they wanted to change everything, so my Dad and brother said ‘no deal’. I’m glad they did that because it afforded both me and Charles the opportunity to grow up and see the world and really have things to write about.”

Never fully putting his love of music on the back burner, Josh left Georgia to attend the University of Mississippi under a golf scholarship where he studied graphic design. During his junior year, after boosting buzz for himself by way of a self-promoting internet scheme, he eventually landed his first major label deal with Hollywood Records.

2003 saw the release of For The Ride Home and the success of its Top 5 hit single, “Amazing” and in 2005, Josh released his second major label effort Almost Honest and its lead single, “Only You”.

Not long after that, Josh opted out of his Hollywood Records deal and started his own record label, DNK Records.

With his career firmly in his own hands, Josh released four independent albums between 2006 and 2008.

“I wanted the sound to be more rootsy and more organic,” he said. “That’s what I had the power to do releasing my music on my own label.”

Since then he has remained in the public eye thanks to numerous television performances, including: Ellen, Good Morning America, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Regis & Kelly, Last Call with Carson Daly and E!.

In addition to television support, People Magazine, Us Weekly, Billboard, Entertainment Weekly, Radar and Paste Magazine are among the popular music and entertainment publications that have spotlighted Josh and his music.

Josh’s music has also been incorporated into episodes of several popular TV shows, among them: The CW’s Smallville, NBC’s Scrubs, ABC’s Brothers and Sisters, What About Brian and MTV’s The Hills.

After a successful career in pop music and as an indie artist, Josh is back, this time with a country album steeped in tradition and heartfelt truths.

From the memories of “Georgia Clay”, the raw emotion of “Naleigh Moon”, the humor of “Raining Whiskey” or the lyrical seduction of “Learning You”, and every song in between, Josh Kelley simultaneously renews cherished country music traditions while bringing a refreshing energy to his latest release. He is, where he feels he’s always belonged, right here in Music City.

“It’s funny how if you keep working hard and keep trying, an opportunity comes around, and thank God it did. We’re gonna get to move back here to Nashville and this is where I’ll be the rest of my life.”

Vocalist, composer, and producer Haley Fohr has been Circuit des Yeux since she was eighteen years old and released records regularly over the past decades; four full-length albums, along with several mini-albums and singles. Meanwhile, she has played shows everywhere, touring all the time.
The records and shows have been done in primarily DIY fashion, as a means of navigating the world, genuflecting with Sagittarian energy. Circuit des Yeux reflects from a singular angle, looking deeply, at times unblinkingly, at connections and collisions of the cerebral and the physical, with a sense of colloquial grit and an equally opaque transcendent spirit in her words and her music.

Circuit des Yeux’s mesmerising fifth album, Reaching for Indigo, was released 20th October this year.

Rickety new cut, Girl Who Wants To Travel The World, serves as the perfect filler as the band prep for their straight up titled second EP, EP2. “Hear the sound / of dystopian cries” ‘Brave New World’
Revolutionary, incendiary (and necessary), this band have developed rapidly since their
first (February/March 2017) headline tour.

With a naturally passionate and intense presence, this trio mean very much to a growing
number of music fans, despite being unknown outside of the UK’s currently exploding
underground rock and roll dimension.

Punky and psychedelic, they are partly inspired by poetry and literature. Their live show
is a charismatic, theatrical live experience of intensity, possessed by the spirits of musical greatness.

Amidst a myriad of widely varying comparisons, their energy pulses with a unique punkadelic sound. In turn, the music is building a movement.
The Blinders bring with them a youthful, vibrant collective of friends and believers. Musical maverick peers, creators, performers and dreamers, outsiders and insiders united in
support of something new and now. “a band that will make history, they have all the
elements” (Northern Exposure)
