John 20:31 But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

WRITTEN TO GIVE LIFE

What do you thing was Jesus' favorite color?

There are a lot of things the Bible doesn't tell us about Jesus. We hardly know anything about his childhood. We know that he was born in a stable. We know that angels announced his birth to shepherds. But the Bible doesn't tell us anything about when Jesus was eight years old. We don't know what his favorite color was, what games he liked to play, or what were his favorite places to visit.

And there's a reason why the Bible doesn't tell us everything about Jesus. God didn't have the Bible written just to tell us about the little details. God had the Bible written so that we would know the most important things.

Our verse for today tells us that Jesus is the Christ. That means "Chosen One." Of all the people who have ever lived on this earth, Jesus was the One person who could save sinners from hell.

This verse also tells us that Jesus is the "Son of God." We get to be children of God because we trust in Jesus as our Savior. But Jesus was the Son of God from eternity. Long before Bethlehem, he existed as God with the Father and the Holy Spirit.

This verse also tells us why God had the Bible written down. So that you and I could read about Jesus, trust in him, and have eternal life because of what he did for us on the cross.

When a book has too many details we can miss the point of the story. That's why God didn't include everything there is to know about Jesus. He didn't want us to get lost in the details. He wanted us to read, and believe that Jesus is the Chosen Savior, the Son of God, and the reason we will live -- even after our death.
