Woking District water weekend at Paxmead Guide Centre in September.
Challengers ESU and 3 Woking District Scout sections are running a camp at Paxmead (https://paxmead.org.uk/) in Shepperton (TW17 9NT) on Sat 2nd / Sun 3rd September, with option for Friday night "get to know everyone". We need 2-4 leaders with canoe or kayak permits to join the 6 other permit holders and 6 ground crew to run a weekend of water-based activities for 40 Scouts / 8 Explorers.

The camp is arranged and paid for, you are welcome to camp (at no cost) if you wish to stay overnight; all meals are provided. Paxmead has a huge selection of watercraft, and we can lend you a canoe or kayak as you prefer if you don't have your own. The leaders already attending are very sociable, you'll have fun!
Arrive from 8:30am, morning activities start 10am. Afternoon session ends at 4pm - but you're also welcome to stay for the evening, for which we'll have enough permit holders. If anyone wants to work on rolling skills, we hope to run an evening session on that too.
The aims of the camp are to mentor some of the un-permitted leaders that are helping out; to give enough skills to get as many of the participants onto moving water as soon as possible by working through the skills of Discover/Explore syllabus (appropriate to experience). Younger Scouts may have a higher balance of games/theory based on their skill/experience.
If you're able to help or have questions, please contact Jon Culshaw of Challengers ESU on 07958 661559 or email jon@culshaw.co.uk
Many thanks
