Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

EVEN TO THE END OF THE AGE

I recently mentioned to my wife that I needed some new running shoes. She handed me a 30% off coupon along with $20 in Kohl's Cash and another coupon for $15 off any purchase. I was all set to save some money the next day. Then we looked a little closer and realized that the $15 off coupon expired that night. It was already 10:00 pm and too late to go shopping. The word "expired" caused a bit of disappointment and cost me $15.

Aren't you glad that the promises of our Savior do not have an expiration date? When Jesus sent His disciples out to all the nations to make disciples by teaching and baptizing, He also attached the promise of His abiding presence to give them courage and strength. And then, it's almost as if Jesus anticipated their concern that this promise might come with an expiration date. So He encouraged them, and us, by letting us know that He will be with us, every step of the way, "even to the end of the age."

There is an expiration date to the time of grace for every individual that lives on this earth. But the promise of our Savior's presence will not expire. As long as we live and breathe and this earth continues, our Savior will be with us. That's a promise from the One who has faithfully kept every promise He has ever made. Need proof? Look to the cross and the empty tomb! Amen.
