New on my Website!-
Our buddy Ann Horton of Wilson, NY, has been at it again! This time Ann sent us a delightful video of a new "masseuse" in her town! This guy looks GOOD, and he evidently specializes in Deep Tissue Massage!

A cute picture of Panda & Smokey Foster sewing assistants of Karen, of Sandy, UT.

A beautiful soft pink corduroy Vervalise, submitted by Peg Rice of Westport Island, Maine. Peg actually sent me her bag so I could check out some of the modifications she made in it. GREAT job, Peg!

Carla Shade, of Dayton, Ohio, submitted 2 impressive pictures of the bags she made. Her black & white Bellagio Bag is just lovely. (Black & white is my favorite color combination!), and her elegant Vervalise is to die for. Carla has really demonstrated an eye for fabric and color. Check these out!

New at StudioKat Designs- My Newest Design, The Odyssey
In just a few short weeks I'll be releasing my 12th pattern, The Odyssey. Many of you have asked me to add a backpack purse to the "Bags with Panache" collection, and soon you'll be able to experience the liberation of a hands-free lifestyle, and still make a personal "style statement"! The Odyssey has 2 exterior storage areas as well as a concealed storage cache that's sandwiched in-between!
Don't fret if a backpack purse is not your cup of tea, because you can just make your Odyssey a shoulder bag instead! And just like the rest of my designs, the Odyssey is easy to embellish! As a matter of fact, I've since been told, (and I swear i am NOT making this up), that this is the first design on the market that actually looks totally at home with a bolo tie!!!
The official release announcement for the Odyssey will be in my March 2007 newsletter, however I expect it may actually go on sale sometime in late February. And don't forget, all of you are welcomed to use a special $2.00 off coupon, which will be good thru March 31st, 2007! Just type SKD12 in the Coupon Code at checkout, to receive your discount!

A Cool Place to Shop!- CelticSheepskin.co.uk
Celtic Sheepskin began in the mid-70's making Ugg Boots & assorted leather goodies. The company has steadily expanded to become one of the largest suppliers of sheepskin footwear and soft furnishings in the UK. I LOVE the stuff on this site, in particular, the neat Shopper Bag , and my all-time favorite, the CLOGS! Clogs fill the gap between your boots in the winter and your sandals in the summer. They give you the warmth of sheepskin when there is a cold snap but allow your feet to breath as the day warms up. Perfect for home or work. Check 'em out! You'll LOVE 'em!

Surf HERE for Neat INFO!-Track the Travels of $10's & $20's
Ever wondered where your paper money goes after it leaves your wallet at the checkout counter? Well, a guy by the name of Hank Eskin was so curious that he started a website in 1998 called WheresGeorge.com so he and others could track the travels of U.S. currency. All you need to do is enter the denomination, series, & serial number of any U.S. dollar bill, as well as your current zip code. The site will then follow the movement of that bill, giving you the average speed in miles per day & the actual travel time between exchanges of the currency! Too cool!

Cats in the News-Cat Saves Baby's Life
Submitted by R. Martel of Advance, NC
A cat saved the life of a newborn baby abondoned on the doorstep of a Cologne house in Germany in the middle of the night, by meowing loudly until someone woke up, a policeman says. "The cat is a hero," Cologne police spokesman Uwe Beier said. "It's meowing got the attention of the home-owner and saved the baby from suffering life-threatening hypothermia. The home-owner opened the door to see why the cat was making so much noise and discovered the newborn." Mr. Beier says the boy was taken to the hospital when overnight temperatures fell toward zero, but only suffered mild hypothermia. He adds there is no indication of what happened to the boy's mother.

Love Handbags?- BabyCakesBoutique.Com
I think you'll enjoy looking around in the BabyCakesBoutique. Even if you're not interested in buying, I think you'll enjoy her interesting use of fabric and her innovative combinations of color. This is definitely "eye candy!" I especially like the selection of mother/daughter handbags. What a cool way to stand out in a crowd with your little princess! My favorite is the USA duo . It's done in navy polka dots and highlighted in red, white & blue ribbons. What a way to celebrate in STYLE!

Did You Know?- It's Return Shopping carts to the Supermarket Month!
As everyone already knows, February is "Return Shopping Carts to the Supermarket MOnth." So there's no better time to learn the history of the shopping cart. Did you know that customers initially proved reluctant to use the first shopping carts so the inventor hired fake shoppers to walk around using them? To learn more about the inventor and to see early versions of telescoping shopping carts from the Smithsonian Institution, check out the links on this site.

Surf HERE for FUN!- Seeing-Stars.com

Talk to Me-
Alert reader, Darlene, had a neat suggestion for how other Weight Watchers might capitalize on the popularity of the TV show, Deal or No Deal. Her suggestion is.... "Meal or No Meal! (I LOVE it!)

Monthly Trivia-
February 2nd, is of course best know for being GroundHog Day! Sometime this morning, in Punxautawney, PA, someone will drag Phil, king of the weather prophets, out his warm winter nest, to predict what the rest of the winter will be like. Phil must be a really good-natured guy, because I have always wondered why Phil doesn't just bite the crap out of these guys! I know I wouldn't be too happy if I was snatched out of my bed for such a reason, when there's any number of TV & radio stations giving the forecast constantly! I say leave poor ol' Phil alone, but then I digress...
The Germans surrendered to the Russians at Stalingrad on this date in 1943, in what is generally considered to be the psychological turning point of WWII. Stalingrad, or Volgograd as it is now known, has special significance to me, as I spent a week there last summer. It was a fascinating place!
And speaking of turning points... do you believe that actress Farrah Fawcett, of Charlie's Angel fame, is 60 today?!? You think that's something, how about Tommy Smothers being 70 today??? Tommy & his brother Dick, hosted a comedy hour on TV in the late 60's, The Smothers Brothers Show. His famous byline was "Mom always loved you best!"
And if today is YOUR birthday, that's SUPER! Here's a great big StudioKat Designs Happy Birthday to ya! And if today is not your birthday, you can celebrate anyway, by checking the weather forecast the usual way. Yeah, be an "Angel", and let all of your pets rest in their little beds, they can't forecast weather any better than the TV folks anyway! And finally, while I can't speak for Mom, I can say, that I love ALL my newsletter readers the BEST!

Well, that's it for now, so until next month, remember!
